... still to this day.

The COJCOLDS continues to go to great lengths describing Joseph's loving, close, intimate relationship with his first of 39 wives, Emma.

There is no way in hell it could have been that close, intimate or loving with all the other women Joseph was lusting after, coveting, and/or bedding.

In fact, Joseph was derelict in his duties to both his wife Emma and their children. The people who became angry over his actions weren't because he was an inspired man of God.

It was because he was a heretic who thought nothing of stealing other men's wives and young girls, while telling these women he was doing it in the name of God, so who were they to argue with him? That along with the other chicanery he used to deceive those who followed him blindly, was enough to anger those who discovered his fraud and called him out during their lifetimes.

He was a swindler through and through. His plural wives brought dowries or inheritances to their phony union with him that they had to surrender over to him, thus becoming his property. Women in Joseph's time were treated as chattel ie, personal property of their husbands. So too was anything they owned became his.

Joseph, aware of this then accepted notion, swindled as many women as he possibly could before his life was cut short. Joseph also swindled the rest of his flock in much the same manner with the "Law of Consecration." They gave everything they owned basically to Joseph to "build up the church." While in fact everything that he received became his sole property.

Since then the cult has gone to great lengths to cover that aspect of his sordid life up. Since it can no longer feign ignorance, it continues to emphasize how close and loving his and Emma's relationship was.

How could it have been? Emma was as dependent on him as the other poor blokes who fell for his swindle. She had nowhere else to go as a young wife with many children. Who else was going to take care of her if not her louse of a husband?

The one thing Joseph did for Emma was leave her his inheritance when he died. Everything he owned - all that was church property was in his name only. And that became hers only because she was his only legal wife.

The swindle continues to this day.

The glaring question is this....

IF Joseph had this celestial sealing power why was Fanny the first one he sealed to himself? Emma should have been sealed first as his first wife and been made the prime wife.

Instead a serving girl is sealed first?

Doesn't that make her the prime wife?

Anyone know how many were sealed before Emma?

Emma didn't approve of Joseph's polygamy. There was much Joseph kept hidden from her, especially his adulterous affairs such as the one he had with Fanny Alger.

Likewise the celestial sealings were withheld from Emma, at least at first. She was kept in the dark.

Keep in mind those marriages were pseudo; the only one recognized in the law was his with Emma's. Yet even his marriage with Emma was a farce, like the others were.

There's actually little to nothing to support the claim that Fanny was ever "sealed" at all. This was Joseph screwing a teenage servant girl, not a "plural marriage."

Emma was not his first wife, check the church website. He was sealed to Emma as number seven. Never let facts get in the way of a good story.

You mean first celestial sealed wife to Joseph.

Emma was his first and only wife in the eyes of the law. And first of all the others that followed.

Interview the wives of Weinstein, Lauer, and all the other lechers who have recently been outed. Divide them into 3 or for groups: those who really knew, those who strongly suspected, those who slightly suspected, and those who did not really know. Ask them how they dealt with their husbands' blatant infidelity.

Night after night after night, he comes home, "too tired," too late, too preoccupied, too busy, to something or another.

Getting these women to really open up would be quite the trick, but I think you'd have a good bit of your answer there, AmyJo.

How many of these celebrity wives knew what to expect?

When the other shoe dropped, how many were caught by surprise?

Whereas in the case of JS, a case can be made that Emma was surprised when she found out.

But what about William Law's account of being propositioned by Emma? And why the lies by Emma about JS's institutional schtupping?

Ah, chattels. Women as chattels, too. As Smith is believed (by me) to have said, "What's not to like?"

Yup Fanny was just a romp...no decent man would allow Emma to run her off pregnant at an early age...but then no decent thirty year old would have knocked her up to start with...joes barn must ave smelled sweeter than most...thought I read Emma was sealed 25 th between two teen agers..right where joe seemed to always be...takes a real predator to prey on foster daughters...such an honorable POS...Emma's olks had the tird figured out...IMO she liked the fame and money...wouldn't be the first time honor took a second seat to comfort...joe was sure a piece of work

Roy Moore comes to mind thinking of young Fanny being molested by that POS pedophile.
