I don't think I'm wrong on this one: the guy flat-out is wrong and misleading when he answers this Q:

Here's the meat of his answer:

"No, because we don’t baptize the dead into the Mormon faith. That would be pointless.

What it should more accurately be understood as is being baptized by proxy for and in behalf of someone who is deceased; so that when the person accepts Jesus Christ as their Savior and desires to be baptized in the next life, they will have the opportunity to accept the baptism performed on earth by the living on their behalf.

If those who never learned of Jesus Christ in this life and who died without baptism were never given the opportunity to be baptized as Jesus said was necessary (John 3:5 and Matthew 3:15), then life would be not only unfair, but cruel.

Instead, our God is a just and merciful God and has prepared a way for every one of God’s children who has ever lived to be saved according to His glorious plan of salvation through the Atonement of the Begotten Son of the Father, Jesus Christ. And, I should add, there is no other way given whereby anyone can be saved, except through the grace and atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.

So God’s plan of salvation includes a way for those who died without a knowledge of Jesus or baptism..."


OK, this guy completely leaves out the fact that mormons only view *their* baptism as "certified", and doesn't mention that about two minutes after a person gets BFD, they are confirmed as a MEMBER OF TCOTPOTCOJCOLDS!

It's a confusing and weird application of Christianity. Mormons have their own ideas about salvation.

Neither the confirmation not the baptismn are binding unless the deceased "accepts" the gospel in the afterlife. but proxy work for the dead is religious legalism at its finest. So the splitting of such theoretical angelic hairs is normal.

So if you live and die without ever hearing anything about "Jesus" or Joseph Smith, then you can't just be "judged" on whether you were kind, honest, generous, and a good person.

You MUST be mormon-baptized, mormon-confirmed, and mormon-endowed. Otherwise it's outer darkness for you. Elohim has no leeway -- he can't just forgive you, or move you along because you were a great person. VE HAVE RULES!

Oh, and yes -- it was a flat-out lie. Mormons only consider THEIR "baptism for the dead" valid (the mormon one). It IS a "mormon baptism," and those baptized-by-proxy are immediately confirmed as members of the church.
