Yesterday I took DW to a sacrament meeting.
The whole hour was spent hustling the congregation for tithing.
The "high council" speaker said that tithing was a debt not a charitable contribution.
I felt like standing up and shouting out OK if it is a debt I owe sue me.
However out of respect for DW I did'nt

There is some fine print on the bottom of the year end tithing receipt that goes something along the lines that tithes are free-will offerings.

Also, I can't remember if it was this board, but someone said this is how he does it: He takes all his money, puts it in a big pile, throws it up in the air, and whatever god catches is god's, whatever falls on the ground, he keeps.

Why don't they be honest and call it the Mall Construction Fund?

And if it is not a charitable contribution, how come TBMs claim it against tax?
