yes, finally. It was a hell of a process, because the right wing of the governing Liberal Party (actually a conservative party) made it as hard as possible. We had to have a non-binding snail mail vote, which came down emphatically in favour, so the hardline conservatives in government had to fold. They passed a bill very quickly, and there are no 'religious rights' protections in it. Bakers will have to bake gay wedding cakes, or fall foul of existing anti-discrimination legislation.
In a few weeks, no-one will care, and we will be saying "what was all that fuss about?"
Stats from other countries suggest that more women than men will marry, and that these marriages will last about as long as hetero-marriages do. But at least we all have equal rights in that regard now, which is the main thing.
