There are new rules for baptisms for the dead. I don't have the link, but now Priests can do the baptism and be witnesses. As for young women:

"Young women (ages 12-18) will now have the opportunity to “assist with baptistry assignments currently performed by sister temple ordinance workers and volunteers.” This can include helping individuals to assignments, scheduling (presumably), making sure everything is running smoothly, passing out towels at the baptistry, and others. Young Women’s leaders the world over will rejoice."

Translation: women will do all the work and the males will reap all the recognition. Once again the only criterion is whether or not one has a penis.

Now where have I heard that before????

I think this change in policy confirms the notion that the church doesn't have enough temple workers to do the work. I remember youth temple trips that were delayed two hours or more because there was no temple personnel available to perform the ordinances. And this was back in the 80s when the church had better temple attendance! I can only imagine a skeletal group of old-fogeys trying to do it all now.

LOL

More evidence of the lack of giving a fuck by more and more adults to temple wackiness. TSCC knows its ONLY hope right now is to retain more youth and get them hooked.

If TSCC wants to see serious growth in US again they need to do this:

Two hour block

Standardize and simplify repentance, with no public shaming

Garments in temple only

Temple recommends only questions are:

"Are you a full tithe payer?"
"Are you a good person?"

When you don't give them a reason to look elsewhere, they won't.

Yeah, but then it has to throw out the 'power of the priesthood' stuff, and the direct connection to ghawd bullcrap and assorted other 'specialness' and then it's no longer the mormon cult, and becomes 'just another non-catholic church'!!

nah, they can keep the priesthood and the direct connection to gawd.

Just be more transparent about pay to play.

Pay your tithing, say the right things, do the rituals, get to heaven .
