Progress being made weekly. Can now stand with a walker and also walk carefully with crutches. Sheppard Spine Center feels she has met the goals of inpatient therapy and is being discharged home this Friday December 22!!! Cause remains a mystery. DW and I staying indefinitely st her house to assist and care for grandchildren. DW an angel....home for Christmas. Plus, clears much needed bed at Sheppard as Christmas-New Years holidays are the most common time for spine injuries, with Fourth of July the second most common. Intensive home therapy with twice weekly OP therapy. Cannot drive at this time so I become the chauffeur!! This isn’t a bad gig for retired neonatologist. Cheers to all...

Great news, Gatorman. You might help her husband look at PT facilities. I looked at three and there was a big difference between them, with one having clearly superior facilities (it was the one connected to the hospital.)

I really hope this doesn't happen to me when i get a disk replacement next month, this kind of scares me gatorman. What was her procedure again? A fusion or something? Glad there is progress though that's a good sign. It would be hard to lose your legs entirely from parralysis.

Spinal fusion but lower back. Unusual and uncommon post op event

I am getting a disk replacement in my neck and my doc said there is always a small risk for parallysis, but this makes me very nervous. How uncommon is this? I have no idea. Is this super rare?

Still, it's normal to think about it. Good luck with everything.
