I apologize if everyone knows about some impending changes in the temple.

I'm only getting wind of them because my in-laws are here for the holidays. My mother in law is distraught because she is the best note taker for these temple meetings and she won't be there. It is on December 31st. The temple president said that he realized that not everyone could make it but that for the changes to be in place in time, they had to schedule it on New Years Eve day.

Now, the last time I heard of temple changes that would take effect January 1st it was my "live" endowment and they had removed the blood oaths. I only knew of it after the fact when my mother told me I went through a different ceremony than she had and mentioned their removal.

How stupid is this timing? I just finished reading Dicken's "The Chimes." It is part of his Christmas Collection and deals with New Years Holiday. The British back then were apparently obsessed with New Years and changes being made for it and before it.

And so LDS Inc. is just yet again showing its Victorian garments.

As what is to change - no clue. I assume it is big or why the crazy timing?

Maybe they are doing away with the Masonic handshakes so the members can't tie them to Freemasonry after time.

Or maybe they are allowing husbands and wives to sit together now, to avoid the appearance of gender discrimination and inequality.

Or maybe they are eliminating the requirement for women to veil their faces.

Or maybe they are shortening the program because too many people are busy and don't want to come to the Temple. And maybe there are too many people who are falling asleep.

Yes, it's stupid timing to do it on New Years Day - like there is nothing going on in people's lives that day!

There should be a drive-through option.

The MormoCult would do well to drop their silly stolen knuckle grips.

This sort of frat-boy crap brands both Masons and LDS as psycho-manipulators of their respective flummoxed flocks.

I've had my in-laws here most Christmases for the last 17 years I've lived here and they have been temple workers the whole time. Something big is probably happened. This hasn't happened before to my knowledge. It might have the handful of years they flew home before the 31st?

And besides, the church loved to inconvenience its members. Screw paying one of them to clean the church as a way to live. Heaven forbid the lowest levels get money like bishops did back when the church was Joe's church.

I think one room in every stake center should be designated as a "temple" so we don't have to drive 3 hours (or more if you're further from a temple) to attend your "designated" temple.

One of the last times the never-changing church had a temple-related revelation in January caused the hasty sewing of the sides of the initiatory shield by the endowment workers. Eventually, pre-sewn shields were provided.

Strength be in your stitches and in your sewing.

Perhaps its the changes related to the youth taking on added roles when it comes to baptism for the dead.

I bet that is it. I think they work in the baptistery. They've mentioned that word a few times.

I guess I was never a real TBM because I always thought if some of this monotony could be done during the millennium, why not do ALL of it during the millennium?

Maybe sequins will be allowed on the temple house slippers.

I heard they were taking input on a hat to replace the silly bakers hat.
So far the leading contender is the white version of the "Make America Great Again" cap.

the teenagers how to pick up the towels, how to fold the towels and how to hand the towels to the people exiting the font.

The second half of the training will be to teach them how to teach them to be a witness and how to stay awake.

It is big.

YM will be baptizing and witnessing in the font.
YW will be handing out towels.

Confirmations will still be handled by the Melchezidek PH.

The big news is that 11 year old Primary will be an introductory temple prep class!

A 1st Pres letter was read today confirming all of this.

Gag! I hate them more. I knew something was up from the monthly temple trips my kids did. As a kid I never did that many.

another P.R. stunt

The further inoculation of young Mormons to accept the temple contracting to a corporation seems like the opposite of a P.R. stunt to me. The timing maybe. Somehow the first day of a new year and what goes on inside Mormon temples somehow coincide with revelation for the Mormon corporate gods.

I'm sure the endowment isn't changing, only the PRESENTATION of the endowment. Of course, we have no idea what the actual endowment that can never change even is. I guess once everything that is just "presentation" has changed, whatever we're left with (probably just the prayer circle) we will know what the unchanging eternal endowment really is.

Maybe Monson had a real revelation and JC said, "What the hell are you doing in my name? STOP IT!"

It would be healthier for kids to play sports and run around outdoors, and earn merit badges, than to be locked in a windowless building with adults getting naked and touching each other, and changing their clothes over and over, and wearing bathrobes and slippers and crazy hats and veils. The temple adults would be whispering and keeping secrets, and forbidding the kids access into the inner sanctums. Everyone would be thinking about death. This is not a healthy, sane environment. The white temple clothes become see-through and clinging, when wet.

Ew. I would almost rather have my kids hang out in a casino, or go to an R-rated movie.

I would. At least they go in knowing what the experience entails and what's the point.
