So sang the pop song from the 1950's.

The popular scripture "There is no fear in love. But perfect love casteth out fear," has been a part of my recovery post-Mormonism.

And yet oddly enough it is one of the more popular themes spoken of, written about, and discussed in Mormon literature.

Is it because it serves the Mormon task masters well?

As an ex-Mormon I feel more loved, more accepting and accepted because I don't have as many artificial constraints to rule my life by.

The grace of God is freely given. It isn't something to bargain for. It is a gift of love.

Mormonism is all about works, not grace.

Grace is sublime, like love is. You can't have one without the other.

The song itself is magical.

The movie sublime.

Andy Williams does a great job singing it.

Same chapter: 1 John 4:21 "And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also."

I don't think John is talking about 'heart' love, like for lovers and parents. I do not 'love' my fellow man, in general, so my laztheism makes this review of this nothing more than a lark.

And the mention of 'perfect love'... Anyone have any ideas on just what that is?

I recently had a dream... I was on the street side of a parked-at-the-curb vehicle and 'someone' was next to me. Suddenly I saw a car coming at us (at right angles, so apparently out of a drive way?...well, you know how dreams can be) and a realization went through my mind: I could leap to safety, but I couldn't pull 'someone' to safety. So I could live, but I'd be alone. So I wrapped my arms around her and then woke up.

Frankly, I was stunned that my mind could be that dumb!!! Nah, I was kind of proud of myself. Half my lifetime ago I don't think I would have considered it, but now, it just seemed right.

'Someone' got all mushy when I told her.

Love can be tricky shit... And I don't think you can trap it in a bottle, or put it on display.

Oh wow, that's beautiful Shummy.

No mistaking the Mormon Tabernacle Choir singing that.
