This story, though not dealing with Mormonism (or even religion, for that matter), reminded me a lot of what I've read here and elsewhere about how the LDS church views and treats rape victims. Unless the McLains are LDS (which I highly doubt, given that they live in New York, according to the story), it would appear that several other Christian religions view rape victims, particularly those with intellectual disabilities, as being unbelievable. And Mrs. McLain's attempts to have the victim change her testimony in order to protect her own family are stunning and are a prime example of what is wrong with the value of protecting the nuclear family at all costs!

Disturbing!

The people with intellectual disabilities are vulnerable everywhere.

They count on us to look out for the people who can't look out for themselves.
