In his home. His daughter found him near the furnace. Performed CPR, but he was later pronounced dead at the hospital. James Baird was 61 years old.

We just never know when or where, do we? May he R.I.P.

"Baird was one of three people found unconscious inside a home near Rock Creek in Montgomery County.

Washington Gas said the carbon monoxide leak was in the furnace of the home, which was under renovation.

James Baird leaves behind a wife, Lindy, four children and several grandchildren, according to Sheets."

Avoidable, but very sad.

Sad, but I guess "priesthood spiritual discernment" doesn't work on carbon monoxide leaks. Carbon monoxide detectors do, though. How about that.

Carbon monoxide is nasty stuff. Make sure to check your detectors.

If you don't have a carbon monoxide detector, get one.

I just pray away the carbon monoxide.

I put my arm to the square and command the CO away. Works better for me than a simple prayer.

CO detectors are needed for buildings that are connected to gas appliances, not all-electric buildings...

If I had an electric furnace, I'd still get one.
Odds it'll malfunction in a way that produces CO -- tiny.
But...
The detectors are cheap.
Life isn't.

There are a number of arguments already extant that life IS cheap. I agreewWith you, but I believe we are in the minority.

Twilight-rate hot deal on a local muni course? Cheap.

The life of the friend you play with? Priceless!

:)

(just over 3 weeks with no golf 'cause of my ankle surgery...I'm seriously jonesing for a round!)

Wanna plan for Sunday, March 11, the day the music doesn't die? (the start of daylight savings) I'll come down, and I'll bring two other OC exmo players (if any will present themselves) and we will see what the time off did to your game!

Since I'm driving, I will have my beers at the turn...

Deal!
I get the all-clear to play Feb. 20th, so I might even be able to get in a comeback round first.
Not that I haven't been taking practice swings in the back yard...:)

His garments didn't protect him? Pardon me while I roll around on the floor laughing my ass off. Poor stupid little Mormon. Why did you pay all that money and wear those crazy underwear.

This guy was supposed to be superior to all of us.

If Mormons are mourning, there’s hope for them yet.

Still, it’s nothing to joke about. Ask not for whom the bell tolls.

Amen to this.

In the end, love is all that matters.

And the beginning, and middle.

It is a state park in New York state.

Tragic story.

Thanks. Learn somethin' new every day. :)

It's located east of Poughkeepsie, downstate New York, in Dutchess County.

Sad. I too wonder if Mormons in his stake are scratching their heads, and wondering: Why didn't the HOLY GHOST warn him? Why didn't an angel come and shake him awake? Why didn't his garments protect him from the poisonous fumes? Why didn't his prayer the night before protect him? You know. Questions like that.

In any case, it reminds me of a Mormon Scout Campout in my ward several years ago. It was a winter campout. A father in the ward came later in the evening to help. He didn't have a tent, and opted to sleep in his car. In the middle of the night, the temps got down to the single digits. He opted for some heat on a small propane heater in his car. The next morning, the bishop asked the boys to go awaken Brother X. They came running back, "Bishop Brother X won't wake up?" He had died in the night due to CO2 poisoning.
