When I go outside to get my morning newspaper, I usually stop to talk to the roses on my two rosebushes, cupping a rose in my hand so I can get a full dose of the aroma (it's important to buy only those that do have aroma's, as this is often bread out of roses these days. (Also, 'they' say that all living things have feelings.)

One of them is even a 'brand' rosebush, dark red, named 'Beverly Hills'.

The other one, yellow, is genetic.

But I love them both, and treat them as equals.

I talk to all my trees and plants. I didn't realize it, until you brought it up.

My flowering pear tree had buds already, and it is weighted down in 2 feet of snow. I told it, "You're OK. You'll get through this...."

Looking forward to Spring!

There are two groups of people in the world.

1) People who connect with nature on a spiritual level.

2) People who notice the beauty of this world and consider it a wonderful coincidence.

Regardless of how things came to be on this planet, both groups of people are influenced by the complexity of life that they see. Isn't this a wonderful thing?

DW and I talk to the cat. I have read that talking and playing certain music is good for plants.

I don't care what anyone says, I do NOT start my conversations with my cat! That would be silly! But it would be rude to ignore her.

Just letting you know.

I love roses.

Have grown several varieties on my property. All but one of them have stopped producing the variety they were bought for over the space of ten to twenty years, with the exception of a large pink tea rose.

The rest have turned into red primroses. Of which I didn't plant a single one. Out of five varieties all pastel colors, they became the same red primrose over time.

You must be far south of Philadelphia. I "collect" heirloom roses, with a few David Austins mixed in. To be honest, I'm out of space, but I will only admit that here, as I leaf through the incoming garden catalogs.

I have always loved "Paint Your Wagon" (the film)!!!

I love the Mother Lode country...I think the film (beginning with its theme song) captures the inner spirit of 1800s-and-beyond California better than any other film I have ever seen...and my uncle's company was "the" company for the kind of services it offers during on location filming.

To me, the film is a classic.

To many OTHER people...not so much. ;)

I talk to myself. When I do, I know the person that needs to hear what I'm saying is listening.

My garden is my God. If you have to have one that is the one to have. I have no use for beings who want to be worshipped but am happy to do that for my roses and all their friends. I watch and appreciate every rose from tight bud to the last petal to drop.

I don't talk to my roses but I listen to their conversations with he hummingbirds and bees that helicopter everywhere. Best eaves-dropping ever. Flora and fauna at its finest. They invented reciprocity, the basis of love, I do believe.

No kidding! Nature has so much to teach us, if we so choose. I read the Secret Lives of Trees and that just really changed my perspective about a lot of things. The more I learn the more I realize how much I don't understand. Also love your refernce to reciprocity, something a lot of us think we don't owe Nature.

My cat and I are bonded on some level or another. I talk to him, and he eats the food I buy him.

Okay Cludgie, your cat can be an honorary rose. The thing with cats is they do last longer as long as you remember to water them. :)

My wife talks to the tv news, sometimes violently, but most aggressive at the referees/umps in football games, basketball, soccer but rarely at baseball (too boring).

If her team is doing lousy, she yells and screams at the coaches and players, especially at the players if they recently signed a large multi-million dollar contract.

Talking to plants and being with them is so rewarding. I try to go outside and take walks because the trees and plants are so lovely.

I tend to connect with plants on a spiritual level. It is hard to explain to people when they themselves aren't listening.
