I sporadically delve into the family tree, both the TBM and nevermo branches. Today's recent brief foray (sparked by the thread on polygamy) revealed that 15 seems to be the magic number for the age of wives for both the first marriages and many of the subsequent polygamous marriage of TBM male ancestors.

I hadn't noticed this before. Anyone else ever notice this in the family skeleton closet, uhh—I mean tree?

Don't you mean the brides were a few months shy of their 16th birthday?

:)

My polygamous g-g-g married his first bride when she was 17. Wifey #2 was 19.

I guess g-g-g was a little slow...?

Just a few years short of their 18th birthdays.

Nothing to see here, folks. Move along.

Our families - non-mormon - married in their thirties and had children in their forties and even one at 51 (for the wife!) and older for men.

Then 14 and 13 to accommodate the expanded borders of the progressives and their sexual revolution, not to mention immigrants who bring in their child brides, or marry then here in the 1st World.

Of course, equality dictates this must be applied to persons of any and all sexuality, gender concept, identity, whatever. NAMBLA, currently reviled, may yet see its day in the sun.

(Just to be clear, I don't endorse this in any manner.)
