Phil,
Care to give a very general idea of where you live? i.e. regional?

The Tuscaloosa Third Ward misses you.

ETA: We finally got a second Jacks.

They actually have JACKs in TN now. The Tuscaloosa third ward still holds a special place in my heart especially since it nevet existed. They used to have 2 wards but it was dissolved.

When I moved to Tuscaloosa 27 years ago, they had just split the original ward into two - the Tuscaloosa and Warrior River wards. After about four years they had to recombine them. I left shortly after that. Now, I believe they have two wards again - the Tuscaloosa and the Northport wards.

I think the Tuscaloosa Third Ward met at Bryant-Denny Stadium several Saturdays during the fall.

They split the Florence, AL ward 25 years ago when I lived there. It was such a joke because they barely had a functioning ward, but there was a Hatfields & McCoy type feud going on in the ward with two of the sort-of founding families, and they thought they could split that up. Two years later they recombined the wards. One of the matriarchs of one of the families had died off and the worst culprit of the other family had moved. A guy from Utah who had moved there with the same aerospace project my (ex)hubby was working on was made bishop because he hadn't been there long enough to take sides.

Marvin J. Ashton came out for Stake Conference the week before they recombined them and word on the street was that he talked with about 8 people individually and let them know that people would be excommunicated if the nonsense started up again. But it was really funny. One time there was a knock-down-drag-out hair pulling, rolling on the floor fight in the foyer between two women in their 40s.

So they still have one ward and from what I understand it doesn't even have as many active people as we had in the 90s. I'd imagine they have hundreds of inactives on the rolls, though, as most wards in the Southeast do.

Nice place to visit. Not so much to live there.

Ha! I live in Spring Hill and I got the invite for it. Being a nevermo I told the sister missionaries on the phone “you don’t want me to come to that. Trust me!”

Badnar cane to town a few years ago (to brag about his low brow high maintenance schedule and say how he didn't have time to glad hand afterward, that he had a plane to catch, to get to somewhere else). Pompus maniac. Maybe Holland can top that-doubtful.

Most people stood up when he strutted up front, making him feel even more pathetically superior. I asked my folks why they didn't stand and most otheqrs did. They said people stood for profits, and not conceited peons like him (paraphrase). I didn't, and wouldn't have anyway, even if was the stinking profit.

I went to the farce of an spiritual event to report back to you good folks here. Report on Holland.

BADnar! I love it!
Was that intentional? :-)

Yes, of course. Thanks

I could have said (BAD)/ bedNAP (Never Anything Positive) also.

I make things up (including the 'bed', sometimes). It's what I do [creative(ly) writing, storytelling]; make fun of things; point out the inconsistencies, falsehoods, anomalies, and absurdities. I'm a wordsmith (not to be confused with JS, Jr., who was a 'turdmith". I (try to always) say/ call it like it is.

How much do they charge for autographs or to take photographs with them?

Us or them?

Their autographs are worth nothing, on the one hand, and are worth less, on the other.

Someone should just stand up during his talk and blurt out as loud as they can "I'm leaving the church!" We know how 'sagging jowls' bristles when he hears talk like that. Sort of like a caged animal that isn't being fed.

I'd be happy to do it, but I live in DC. I'm unable to make a quick trip to TN with my schedule. :-(
Anyone here in TN willing to do it?

I wonder if he'll give another threatening talk mentioning patty-cake and pulling taffy!

I'm so glad I don't have to be invited to nonsense like this any more. Barf. The last time one of these guys came to our Stake it was Nelson and he was horrible. I couldn't believe my ears, what a simpleton. This guy was once a distinguished Cardiologist? How the might have fallen.

I think at least Jowls might be somewhat entertaining (in a mocking sort of way). His neck looks kind of like a scrotum.

The beauty of resigning is they don't bother you any more.

It seems to me that there have been a lot of apostles going to stake conferences.

I thought the program was just to broadcast them from SLC so they didn't have to travel.

Has that program been scrapped?

They travel to make appearances, 'call' and 'release' snake presents, and TALK ABOUT THEMSELVES.

So, did this turn out to be "something" or "much ado about nothing, yet again"?
