The Jehovah's Witnesses... after all they came later... and the revamps of their website seem suspiciously similar to the LDS one.

Well... many of the national hamburger chains now have Fry Sauce in their Utah locations but I don't know if that counts.

She had her "revelation" in 1866, and was knowledgeable about JS, BY, and the Kingdom of Zion, in all likelihood. The "restoration" or in her case, "rediscovery" of "original, but lost Christianity and the 'real' Jesus shows up among various pseudo-Christian cults. There's no determining what part was conscious appropriating from LDS, or just coincidental bad religious thinking.

Imitation or overlap? Eddy also stole (or "appropriated") things from other religious systems, such as Transcendentalism (which borrowed from Hinduism) and the Shakers. The Shakers' founder was called "Mother Lee," and Eddy was called "Mother Eddy" for a long while. And Mother Anna Lee came up with the term "Father-Mother God," which Eddy also used.

Well, the Reorganized Church, the Strangites and all the other "splinter" Mormon denominations. And the fundamentalist/polygamist sects.

Then there's the Trey Parker/Matt Stone "Book of Mormon" musical and their version of the Joseph Smith story on "South Park." And mentions in books by many different authors, like Mark Twain, Arthur Conan Doyle and Zane Grey. Characters in movies and TV... And so on.

It's not like there is a huge underground market for magic underwear, priesthood signs and tokens.

Do you sell your tokens and signs for money? You have them, I presume.

You can buy anything in this world for money but you can't sell what nobody wants.

I was once served jello salad, and it wasn't at a mormon pot luck...does that count?

That’s on the mark. I don’t think the culture doesn’t run much deeper than that.

“He’s a great talent, so all the other stuff is just bullshit,” Wonder said of Mars. “He was inspired by great musicians and great artists and songwriters. So it’s cool.”

Sometimes I eat dry Honey Nut Cheerios when I watch TV. We found a few between the couch cushions the other day when we were cleaning.

Guilty as charged.

Nice title for a Mormon movie: “A Fistful of Cheerios”.

Temple porn is actually a thing. Very niche market but someone must be turned on by it.

As by their own declaration Mormons are the source of anything deemed as "good", praiseworthy, or worthwhile.
