Just curious...have any of you ever seen anything crazy/unusual or funny happen at sacrament meeting? Once during fast and testimony meeting...a women got up and said that she had tried to commit suicide by overdosing on sleeping pills...everyone just sat there while she stood there and cried (you could hear crickets! lol) for the next 5 minutes. Another one I witnessed was in fast and testimony meeting , a man that had been inactive for 3 years just randomly came to church that day....the bishop got up and said "I see brother _____ and I am so glad you are here, please come up and bear your testimony" ....the man looked shocked but he did it anyways...(this was at my new ward in the city I just moved to about 4 months ago) I have only been back to church 3 times since this happened and I havent seen the man! He probably got scared and decided not to come back. I don't know what I would do if this happened to me...probably run outside , hop in my vehicle and go home...ugh I hate any type of public speaking!

Back in the day, one of my YW leaders got up and started crying about how she was a sinner and didn't understand why god loved her at all because of all the bad things she had done. She knew that she was suffering because of her sins, blah blah. She didn't go into detail, but it was still weird. The bishop made her sit down and then proceeded to tell everyone that she didn't do anything wrong.

I have since found out that her husband was a lying cheating bastard, and it caused her to have major self-esteem problems and blame herself for everything that went wrong in her family. It's her husband and her church that made her feel like a piece of crap. She still goes to church and it breaks my heart.

We had a bishop who was diabetic and got up to talk on a Fast Sunday. He hadn't eaten that morning and it soon became very clear when his talk became alot of rambling that made no sense. (he was thanking the Relief Society for pictures in the foyer that they had nothing to do with etc) His wife had to come up and take him off the stand. I felt really bad for the guy.

Another time there was a kid who was asked to give a talk and he was deathly afraid of public speaking. A couple of minutes into his talk he turned white as a sheet and began slurring his words. I kept expecting the bishop to help him out but he didn't. I really thought he was going to pass out but he made it through. I think the congregation was more relieved he was done than he was. He was so traumatized that he left the church. I later heard that he came back to church as an adult.

but one that I recently remembered when I was talking to a friend, was when a white guy was giving a talk in a heavily dominated polynesian ward. He said something that was taken wrong by a poly dude, who immediately got up, ran to the pulpit, and smacked him in the face. It took the entire bishopric to hold him off.

Another memorable sacrament meeting is when one of the poly deacons set up a fire cracker in church service. LOL...

There was the jilted x-wife who criticized the Bishops wife for creating a match making situation that destroyed her marriage and family.

There was the casino lady, who used the F-bomb and "S" word to describe her conversation with a man in the casino. Yes, she actually sounded the words out in the microphone. Unbelievably funny to this day.

It was during his mission to Germany and he was nervous about giving a talk in the language. To eas his nerves, he fasted. Bad idea. In the middle of the talk, he locked up and went straight back. He woke up to the entire ward standing around him.

I did that a long time ago. Got part way through my talk, felt the room spin, hit my head on the microphone and the next thing I Knew I was on the floor coming to and one of the bishopric members was loosening my tie.

What an awesome feeling that was to pass out in front of the entire ward.

Well, we are sitting on the side pews about mid way back when a lady comes in the back of the chapel. She had to wait outside until the sacrament was finished. The only place to sit was on the the front row, so she walks up the aisle. As she walks up, and we begin to see her back, she had only buttoned one button on her blouse in back at the top, the entire row of buttons down the back of her blouse were undone and she had this gaping hole in back. She was not a TR holder, so there was this totally bare back and bra straps and blouse fluttering open as she walked up the aisle, then she sat down in the front row. A lady a couple of rows back got up and whispered to her, then buttoned up her blouse for her.

In my parents' ward years ago, the father of one of the "weird" families got up during testimony meeting. He was one of those who bore his testimony a lot, and it was usually just random stories that had nothing to do with anything and a bit of crying.

But this time was different. He stood at the pulpit and told the congregation that he knows the devil is after us, because THE DEVIL HAD TOLD HIM SO. He recounted several experiences in which he had had conversations with the devil about various people in the ward.

The most disturbing part is that the bishop LET HIM FINISH. The next month, this man got up again and started with the same creepy stories. This time the bishop let him talk for about five minutes before asking him to sit down.
