Being a bit on the dim side, I had to look up the word "assignation": an appointment to meet someone in secret, typically one made by lovers."his assignation with an older woman" synonyms:rendezvous, date, appointment, meeting; literarytryst"their secret assignation"

Now with that clarification, enjoy this gritty short story by Don.

“He re-enlisted as a way of taking a break.” Wow!

“When he awoke the needle was riding the end of the grove on the record—it went skitch, skitch ...” I can actually hear that!

Another great one, Don.

Don,

Could you create a screen play for this story and many of your others? If I were a TV producer, I would grab at these and create something like the "Twilight Zone" series.

My opinion is that your brevity is a tremendous asset to these--brief and impactful.

Also, do you remember when Stephen King's "The Green Mile" came out in six thin books--one at a time?

The near-malevolent ending to "The Assignation of Powell" screams for a sequel.

I've actually started writing a sequel for "North Falls," my novelette. I have a longer finished book just waiting for when my son gets time to help me with formatting for release (kindle). The "North Falls" sequel will take a few months.

Oh good, I'm really looking forward to that!

Thanks Don.

:)

I'm going to attempt the same thing with some illustrated poems.
I found an old Tanker Desk at a sale, and while I was cleaning out my existing desk, I found them all. I thought they were lost, but not so.

My friends liked them--either that or they were just vey polite.

Anyway, good luck to you on that!

At least the link to his web page at the salamdner is correct. I'll be more careful next time. Sorry Don!
