Several years ago some kid from school phoned my son and threatened his life.
My bishop was unavailable as was my Stake President. When church
Was over I asked the first counselor to the Stake President if I could speak to him about something that was serious. His comment
Was, “You have 7 minutes”. To make a long story short, that was perhaps the most useless 7 min and they wonder why I turned in my
Walking papers. I vowed that day I would never ask a Mormon leader for advice or support

You were under the often mistaken impression that the leadership is there to serve the needs of the congregation. That is not now nor never has been true. The congregation is there to serve the needs of the leadership.

Why talk to church leaders about a threat like that instead of the kid's parents or the cops?

It was a knee jerk decision at the time and the guy was a lawyer
and I knew him and I was scared. As it turned out I figured something out on my own and it worked. I had a harder time
Getting over the way that jerk made me feel

Yes it is not a religion that supports you in any way. If anything it's a hinderance.
