If some bishop makes an error in dealing with a child sex abuse case, and he doe snot remove a predaotor from a situation where he can prey on victims, does the church ever acknowledge a mistake was made?

On a sense, Bps. & SPs are Franchises of LDS, Inc.

The mothership keeps a solemn distance from its franchisees!

The climate of non-responsibility is Directly Responsible for many of the wrongs done by local leaders if not to acts themselves.

"The church does not seek apologies, and does not give them" - Dallin H. Oaks.

Of course they do not accept and blame or responsibility. If they did, they might actually have to apologize.

Re: Dallin H. Oakes quote what a pompous UnChristlike response. Never ask for (because we are perfect) Never give (because we have no forgiveness within us). Perhaps that statement should be used against them in court.

To do that, they'd have to throw Joseph Smith under the bus over Fanny Alger, Helen Mar Kimball, Zina Jacobs, etc. At least he was removed as a predator while in the Carthage jail, but not by the church that made him into a martyr.

If you've had your calling and election made sure, you cannot commit error. You can be sure that the high leadership all have their second anointing. No error can be made. Do Bishops make mistakes? Perhaps, but since their mistakes may taint the upper leadership, they are protected from any blame. All are then held blameless. Except the victim. There is where the blame is said to lie.

The brethren think like corporate lawyers. That means they never admit guilt. That would open them to all sorts of litigation.

The most they will do is settle out of court for an undisclosed sum after all after the appropriate Non-Disclosures are properly signed.

...strangely, both Cathy O'Brien and Kristy Allen (both MK Ultra victims, they claim), said as a matter of fact that LDS Bishops and HP's were complicit in their abuse. Allen also claimed some crazy stuff went on in the SLC Temple basement. You would have to hear their admissions, which are too lengthy for this thread. Tie this in w/PB Glen Pace's report, and you go deep into the rabbit hole, which is upper LDS craziness.

...oh yeah. Kristy Allen also made the remark that since Utah has the highest paid-porn subscriptions, that "If SLC's porn-viewer's lights went out, the city would go dark."

...maybe she does know.

When I found out my girlfriend (at the time) was sleeping with several different people (some of which I had introduced her to as my so-called friends), I blew the whistle on everyone I found out about. There were several church courts that followed and as a result, several people hated me more intensely than I could have imagined possible.

One of them set me up for a malicious prosecution. A malicious prosecution is where someone reports you for committing a crime they know you didn't commit, as their means to get their personal revenge against you through the unjust resulting prosecution against you and your legal punishment. I sent a certified letter to the church in Salt Lake, explaining that there would be emberrasment on the church when I exposed that the motivation for the malacious prosecution was retribution after someone who I reported to church leaders was excommunicated.

Previously, the Bishop had refused to meet with me. After I sent the certified letter to the church headquarters, the Bishop admitted to me that he was being forced to meet with me and the other guy to discuss the issue in person. In that meeting I said that the only thing I wanted was for the other guy to tell the truth to the prosecutor and if necessary in court, nothing more. The truth of the malicious prosecution came out in that meeting with the Bishop in his Bishops office in the church building. Of course, that put the other guy in legal jeoparty because his malicious prosecution itself was a crime. So the Bishop knew the truth. Right in front of me, the Bishop recommended that the other guy take no further actions as there could be emberrasment on the church if he did. I disagreed. Then the Bishop said the meeting is over. So I was left with a legal mess to clean up. I didn't have the financial resources at the time to fight it out in court. When you are accused of a crime, the full weight of the government is against you. It was a mistermeanor. I accepted a plea bargain, knowing at the time that it was unjust and that my church (at the time) had taken part in the legal injustice against me and what had motivated his person to perpetrate the malicious prosecution.

In my resignation letter from the church, I explained this and requested that someone from the first presidency of the church read my resignation letter and to get back to me if they wanted to address this injustice instead of having me resign. I received the standard letter that everyone gets and 90 days later my resignation was affective.
