As the SF Bay Area celebrates Gay Pride this weekend I wanted to send a "thank you" to the divinely-inspired mormon church for forcing the issue and ultimately legalizing Gay marriage across the entire U.S. to include Utah!

I wonder if they saw that coming? Idiots.

Anyway, Happy Pride everyone!

Anyone going to SF to march with the ex-mormon group?

For all the deceased gay Mormons who aren't going to be in the march, I hope there will be ten times their number of ex-Mormons marching in their remembrance.

Praydude is right, now as so many other times. The LDS church's effort in the Prop 8 fight produced a pyrrhic victory that accelerated the grant of marriage rights to gay people everywhere.

God works in mysterious ways!

Yeah, you guys must have been in California when it all happened.

Probably have interesting stories to tell.

I am in the Bay Area and when the news of prop 8 passing hit us we were all in shock...and then the protests started. My wife and I went to an impromptu protest that was held outside the Oakland Temple. I wanted to really dig at the mormons around the temple so I wrote a big sign that said: "PAY LAY ALE - Discrimination will FAIL!"

I think it got under their skin. The temple guards were glaring at me and shaking their heads in a tisk-tisk fashion. I also think the mormons in our area never realized there was going to be such a backlash to the amendment passing.

They would, wouldnt they.

In the Bay Area people know that they know gay people. They even know who some of them are.

It is harder to hate people you like!

my deceased former husband would have proudly marched. What I could not know back in the 70's when we were living in the Bay area is that he was tentatively examining what he knew were his true instincts. He told me after he came out in 1992 that he was both terrified and exhilarated to drive through the Castro in SF. Trying to be the perfect mormon man, husband, father and Bishop! of a ward was quite the burden.

He did live long enough to see marriage equality come to pass.

Your former husband and you must have gone through a lot. I'm glad you both were able to get out of the cult.

Nobody MAKES (or shouldn't) you do anything. We do this for ourselves, and for the FUTURE.

MORMONISM is it's own (though it doesn't) BIGGEST stumbling block [and LIEability].

PRIDE - every day, in every Way
No matter how you Come-
Bent, Crooked, Straight, or Gay-
No matter how you Go

It matters how you Work
And even how you Play

No one does it for us
This isn't a fuss

We are free
We have to be
