...But then again, Stonewall, Selma and Seneca Falls weren't peaceful letter-writing campaigns either. They were riots.
This incident shows once again there are two Turkeys: the densely populated western third, with Istanbul, Izmir and the many beach resorts is as cosmopolitan as Italy or France, and a lot more liberal than, say, Greece or Russia. The eastern third with Kurdistan (where this happened) is populated by rocks, rattlesnakes and religious retards, inbred, indoctrinated and inward-looking.
When the Ottoman Empire was split up, there were plans to divide Anatolia in different states as well. That is why Atatürk made Angora his capital and renamed it Ankara: it was right in the middle, where the border would have been. But perhaps two different states would have been more viable?
Anyway, Onur Albayrak has lived up to his name: Onur means honourable and Albayrak is red flag! He has proudly defended the values of the secular kemalist republic that is Turkey.
Not just "plans" to split up Anatolia: the victors actually did that. The nationalists were unhappy, though, and Kemal used his army to defeat the remnants of the Ottoman state, the Armenians, the Greeks, and other powers in the various states, combining their territory in his Anatolian polity.
Modern Turkey was born in blood and imposed on the world with a ruthlessness that sometimes crossed the border into genocide.
