"Bishop Orellana looked at the new convert and said, 'If paying tithing means that you can’t pay for water or electricity, pay tithing. If paying tithing means that you can’t pay your rent, pay tithing. Even if paying tithing means that you don’t have enough money to feed your family, pay tithing. The Lord will not abandon you.'”

The LDS Church is so greedy that even though it takes in $8 BILLION a year it still will tell its members that they should pay tithing instead of feeding their family or paying their electric bill!

There is one benefit to charitable giving - of any kind. It's a tax deduction if you file jointly and itemize.
We got substantial tax refunds each year, which, I called: Tithing Refunds! Hubby, the TBM didn't seem to get my humor, though.

To clarify, giving to the Mormon church is not really a charity in the general definition of the word, as while they do some charity work, it is really an immense real estate holding company with a church on the side, which qualifies them as a 501c3. Fraud in the highest form, in my - never to be humble opinion.

Susie, with the changes in tax rules, I don't know if many tithe-paying Mormons will even get a deduction anymore. I know that my ability to deduct classroom expenses has been greatly reduced under the new rules.

Hmmm. I thought that 501c3 donations were still deductible. Need a tax accountant to clear this up.

They are.
It's just that many few people will be deducting them.

Yes, money is a significant admission fee. But, the real cost is one's soul.

It's the club's admission fee; it's also good for fire insurance(at the 2nd Coming). ;-)

I’m waiting for them to introduce headgear (other than the baker’s hat) that will protect your brain from Zombie Jesus at the Apocalypse.

Joseph Smith at the Pearly Gate along side St. Peter:

Hmmm. Let's see Sara Kindheart, We have finished your tithing audit, finding in 2000 you paid in full as well as the following two years. But then, things went way down hill and as of 2018 when you finished your earthly trial, you rang in at $ 3,019.13 short.

Sara: I can explai (cut short by Joseph AND St. Peter)

Joseph & Peter: Nope, explanations are NOT accepted. Now take a left turn and then a right, take the stairs....oh, yeah and they go straight down for a VERY long way, and the temperature rises.....but rest assured that you are heading the direction where people like you must go.
