IMV it is all part of the United States as God's favored country syndrome. So many seem to be of the notion that somehow the US has become the "chosen people" or at least hold a special place in God's affections over and above other nations. There has been an advance of gay rights in many countries while at the same time there has been numerous natural disasters that no one there seems to connect to the national condition, real or imagined.

When Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans, my TBM dad asked me if I thought God did this to punish all the sinful people there. I remember thinking "why would you want to believe in a being that harms people?"

Not to mention the fact that mosly lower income people were affected.

The notion that the magical, invisible, imaginary all-powerful man in the sky hates the same people you hate is quite compelling to some people.

So they run with it. Pretending they KNOW what the magical, invisible, imaginary all-powerful man in the sky hates.

And then others agree with them...

Kevin's god sounds terribly inefficient to destroy all that stuff just to go after a small number of folks who survived it anyway. And if Kevin's hero was trying to get "the gays" then why isn't San Francisco engulfed in holy fire?

Look at Sodom and Gomorrah! Did everything get destroyed except S&G? No, everything else was saved because the "sinners" were concentrated at the target site. Yeah, sorry Kevin, but your god is a complete amateur compared to the one in your bible.

I grew up in Redding, California. I consider it my hometown. It breaks my heart to see so much of this beautiful area destroyed and ravaged by these horrendous wildfires. Firefighters and civilians have lost their lives. It's really offensive when a self-righteous asshole, who claims he's a Pastor of God, uses hateful religious rhetoric to somehow blame these wildfires on God's wrath against LGBT's. If there is a Hell of fire and brimstone, it's reserved for douche-bags like this idiot!
