I was in a used book store today and saw some book of Mormons and everyone was written in by missionaries and say read this book and know it is true! It is the true book and has blessed my life! And they left their cards in it to! I don't write in books

To answer your question.

It may not be missionaries that wrote in the book of mormon.

There is periodically a push to have members write their testimony in book of mormons that the missionaries then hand out.

I've seen it done was ward projects and seminary projects.

Not sure when the last big push was to do this.

I think the theory was/is to show that many peoples lives are changed by mormonism.
