My oldest son was born on 9/11/74 so he'll be 44 next Tuesday 9/11. He lives in Rock Springs WY and when it happened he was on a road trip for his work, inspecting some kind of pumping stations, on the road about 6AM Wyoming time. He had to rely on CD's for entertainment while he was driving.
By about 2pm that afternoon, his mom finally was able to get him on the phone and she was the first to tell him what had happened.
He told me once that more than once in the first couple of months after it happened and the actual date was treated with so much mourning and respect, he had more than one person ask him if he were planning on legally changing his birthdate, so he didn't have to be reminded of it every year. He told them no!
Hundreds of innocent people killed. Perpetrated by the Nauvoo Legion (aka Utah Territorial Militia). Nauvoo legion was started by JS and then led by Brigham Young. Funny how they expect members to accept responsibility for their mistakes.
S.H., sorry to correct you, the figure that is accepted for this act of premeditated cold-blooded acts is set at 120 with only 17 children younger than 8 save from being killed.
The Fancher party did nothing to the Mormons. And the Mormons refused to do anything for the pioneers.
... for many leftists around the globe, that other Tuesday the eleventh of September was just as big a tragedy, if not bigger. It certainly made a lot more victims.
I was in the MTC when it happened. They really didn't tell us much. Planes flew into buildings in NYC. Showed us a video of Gordo. I flew to Socal the next week. Didn't really know the full story til I got home two yrs later. I believed with full force. Kind of wish I would have found a tv and turned it on and realized what was going on.
9-11 was the Last Day of the siege that started a few days earlier.
It was the subject of a oath by participants not to tell.
The travelers wete well-to-do people, historians say they were bringing cattle with them, some rode in $$ carriages. Much of the lot was stolen by local mormons, native americans may have got some; Mormons charged $ for taking care of surviving children.
LDS make filthy lucre on the deal, but didn't give victims decent burials.
I'm working part time at an elementary cleaning now. It's marked on the calendars in the classrooms. What is crazy to me is none of these kids were alive when it happened. And I remember the day and was in elementary just like they are now.

I was teaching hs English. After the news hit campus, there was really no more school that day. Lesson plans shot. It was a Tuesday and even the rest of the week was rough teaching.
