The medicine man leading the Mormons should have had his org remain silent on the medical marijuana debate but they didn't.

And look at the hypocrisy this Hippocratic Mormon aristocrat shows.

"As a former surgeon, current church prophet Russell M. Nelson should remember his Hippocratic Oath. Consigning the chronically ill to interminable pain is not in keeping with that Oath. It's time for Nelson to work toward the greater good rather than getting stuck in the politics. Frankly, there is nothing good, compassionate, or Christian in the church's position."

Apparently, God is more concerned about even the name of the church more than alleviating pain. And the means to do it doesn't even go against God (obey the laws of the land) in many places where medical marijuana is legal.

The men at the top are all so far gone as to make their connection with their previous occupations absurd and laughable.

Shows you that when a man (no women) gets endowed with pretend metaphysical powers backed by billions of dollars and millions of believers they really do believe that they are above things that used to hold them back like Hippocratic oaths and even blood ones since "The Law of The Gospel" probably includes some Jesus "comfort those in need of comfort" kinds of things?

Nelson on too much LDS: “I can fly, I can fly!”

Peter Pan taught Wendy to fly and Wendy has apparently taught Russ. For only 10% of your income you too can be part of the fantasy!

For some reason I want to sprinkle glitter around the temple and say “Look, fairy dust!”

If you are in great chronic pain, you are better able to say JESUS CHRIST in all caps with great feeling, just like the name placard on the front of the ward houses. Opposing medical marijuana is part of the renaming project.

Isn't it wonderful? Isn't it marvelous? (Or do we not say that anymore now that GBH has been promoted to 'dead'?)

Even JESUS CHRIST is just what the prophetic doctor orders.

Yeah, Nelson doesn't wonder or marvel much. He has nighttime chats with God recorded on his iPad. Praise the Apple device that his wife provided him with...

I feel like Dr Nelson has sold out medicine as an "apostle" and "prophet".

Thanks for his service as an Army doctor, and I've heard only lavish praise for his heart surgery career.

And if he's still skiing at age 93 good on him.

But, that does not make his religious propositions true, and being a doctor does not mean he can't be bought.

And, there have been plenty of otherwise smart doctors who held fundamentalist right-wing religious views.

And, his supposedly scientific endorsement of the watchmaker fallacy and "that's how genetics works" (as he describes the exact opposite of how genetics and evolution works), belie at least an ability to suspend his scientific education.

For whatever credit he deserves, and I'm sure he saved many lives, he is also old school, hard line, and however good a doctor he is, he's still a charlatan and a quack as an apostle and a prophet.

Does weed help with dementia? You’d think a 93-year old doctor would want to know.

I doubt the “weed” cares either way, but it may be culturally insensitive to refer to some cultures’ holy sacrament as “weed”. If LDS had any sense, they would push for full legalization so that patrons could toke up in the Celestial room.

You’re right! And, it might make it easier for members to swallow more Mormon horseshit.

No, I don’t think “de erb” would be that cruel. It might push the other way, so that’s why the resistance.

Plant-derived opiates to reduce pain and suffering, made by big pharma and prescribed by a doctor? Mormon god and leaders say "OK! No problem!"

Plant-derived THC to reduce pain and suffering, not made by big pharma but prescribed by a doctor? Mormon god and leaders say "No way! Sinful!"

Hmm...
