From today's article about the drunkest towns in America:

The area’s low excessive drinking rate is likely because the majority of residents in Utah are Mormons, and the Mormon church teaches its members to abstain from alcohol.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/food/2018/05/15/the-drunkest-and-driest-cities-in-america/34901003/

Looks like the editors and writers at USA Today were not paying attention or disregarded (yes?) the Church's request about its current moniker.

LDS church: We no longer want you to call us Mormons. We want you to use our full name, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

USA Today: Yeah, no. That's too long. You're mormons. And nobody knows what a latter-day saint is.

LDS church: (hissy fit ensues)

Uh...KUTV in SLC still uses the LDS moniker.

KSL radio station had a commercial for Mormon.org.

The ..."Church"...still can't figure this one out..

We just refer to them as The Church of Cheese and Crackers. When we say that Mormon's either have that look of what? or with disgust. Then I chime in that we also love wine with our cheese and crackers.

We find it a great way to immediately cease any conversation with annoying Mormons, especially at parties or large group gatherings.

Their own training video for public communication directors (1987) had no qualms about using Mormon or LDS. In fact, they remind people to use shortened terms when creating fact sheets to help editors write stories about the church.

Maybe Rusty needs to hustle and check out YT to see how it's done.

"Meet the Mormons".
"I'm a skateboarder and I'm a Mormon".
They spent millions on those campaigns when Monson was still drooling. So much for revelation.

Just call them "Ziontologists".

My first look at a skateboarder, ever, was in Mexico City in 1965, when Elder Michael Smith, of Long Beach, CA, stood on his skateboard and went up and down the aisle of the street car as it braked and then accelerated.

With the world so desperately in need of direction from God the best Rusty can come up with is that God doesn't like Nicknames.

World's problems solved!

The article uses the wrong name, plus does not realize that the statistics on alcohol use being less in Utah is way of the mark as lying is taught over and over in Utah by the cult.

Church teaches members to abstain? More like takes your toys away if you imbibe. Do you get exxed for that? You can't get baptised if you drink. That's more than a suggestion not to partake.

I made huge sacrifice to quit tea. Tough for a Brit. I was shocked to be offered one of those powdery coffee-ish drinks (Vienna?) by a Mormon. Looks like coffee. Smells like coffee. Tastes like it. It's hot. May as well just drink the real stuff. Made me mad. Family thinks I'm bonkers re the tea embargo while mos are still getting their fix if only by fake taste.

Not a lot of teaching about it. More like compulsion. They misrepresent themselves.
