As if Broadway's The Book of Mormon hasn't brought enough cultish notoriety to the MO's, a new offering has its debut this month in NYC - The Book of Merman where two Mormon missionaries tract out Ethel Merman....seriously

The Book of Merman, a new musical comedy in which two Mormon missionaries find themselves on Ethel Merman's doorstep, premiered Off-Broadway following a sold-out run in Chicago. Bringing Merman to life on the New York stage is Carly Sakolove, known for her cabaret act I’m Every Woman, and for her impersonations of some of Broadway’s biggest stars on Youtube.

The Book of Merman began performances at St. Luke’s Theatre October 5 ahead of an October 21 opening. Joining Sakolove is Chad Burris, from the national tour of The Book of Mormon, as Elder Shumway, and Kyle Ashe Wilkinson, making his New York debut, as Elder Braithwaite.

Casey Martin Klein and Julie Sommer Peters complete the cast.

The Book of Merman features music and lyrics by Leo Schwartz and book by Schwartz and DC Cathro. Joe Langworth directs.

The Book of Marmot? Two missionaries proselytizing in a mountain town run into a talking marmot. Amazingly, the marmot DOES want to know more, thinking that he may have ancestors who lived among the Nephites. Much hilarity ensues as the missionaries find out that they really don't understand marmot culture and the marmot finds out what it means to become a Mormon marmot.

The Book of Merkin

Look up merkin, then you'll see that this will write itself.

A comb-out will never be the same! Nor will 'wash & set'.

I swear this by the hair on my chinny chin chin.

It could be Merman from the He-Man series!
