I personally heard him say this at a conference in the UK in the mid-sixties.

Mark E. Peterson. Didn't he write some kind of a marriage manual back in the 1960s?

I remember listening to Conference on the radio and Peterson was talking about the latest female fashion craze--must have been in the 1950s.

So, nylon blouses became fashionable--nylon for clothes was fairly new. At some point nearly everyone wore these blouses. I was in grade school and I remember having one. We wore slips under them because they were nearly transparent.

Peterson was talking about how he'd gone to a member's home and the daughter was wearing one of these nylon blouses. He could see her brassiere! Or so he said.

Talk about shame.

Good thing he didn't live longer--he would have had a stroke at 60s and 70s fashions.

He spoke at my Grandma's funeral. Nearly the whole talk was about her father-in-law. I have the funeral transcript. I had no idea at the time who he was, but reading the transcript years later I am appalled.

Elder Mark E. Petersen, at a stake conference in Bellevue, WA in 1975. Oddly enough, it was an offhand remark in the context of a fiery denunciation of oral sex!

He probably said it elsewhere numerous times, which is why everyone has sort of heard of it.

What an awful joke. Surely he knew her New Name, but the search produced too many bad hits.

I’m not sure having a wife who doesn’t want you to see her naked is something to brag about. But back then skin was a different thing. The mystique could have been a turn-on. Way to go Sis Peterson, you kinky she devil.

Crazy family.

Sister Peterson's own mother died her daughter's wedding dress black while she was on her honeymoon.

She thought Mark E. Petersen was below them and the marriage was a mistake.

Bountiful South Stake - His wife was homely - He made the right choice. I think he married her for Church connections.

If that was the case, seeing her naked would almost certainly have improved his outlook on her, yes?

I just can't imagine spending my life with someone that I haven't spent countless hours mutually naked with. That's intimacy. Something he clearly never learned.

It is documented and he did say it in a talk more than once.

He also referred to Spencer Kimball as "The Runt" - and they were not too friendly with each other.

Just cuz he said it doesn't mean it's true. Maybe it was an inside joke between his wife and him.

They could have been wild and crazy swingers and nudists.

And yet these men leaders had no trouble keeping a ritual that required people to be naked within the temple. They also had no objections to inappropriate male-female touching aka 5 point fellowship, yet here they are bragging about their alleged purity.

Bunch of dirty minded hypocrites.

Given her husband's attitude towards sex, I'm sure Mrs. Petersen was always fully satisfied.

She must have been a very happy woman.

They musta had sex in the dark with the lights out, and no peeking.

If either was caught peeking they were grounded for a week. (jkz)

My point is he could do it blindfolded. It wasn't intimacy he wanted. For him it was just an act. How sad to go through life that way that the human body had so little meaning for him that seeing his significant other naked wasn't possible.
