Visited Portland recently, stopped by at the temple for nostalgia related purposes and commented to a friend that the parking lot was full.

According to my friend, the recently cut the schedule in half to help make the sessions bigger!

It’s not the size of your temple that matters, but how you use it.

It’s not the size of your temple that matters, but how you abuse it.

Spending millions on an exclusive club where only the dead can come and go freely.

When your Elders' quorum meetings and High Priests' quorum meetings consistently start looking like just one or two guys waiting for a burrito, you know something has to change. Combine them so that you can have something that actually looks like a small meeting.

When the temple workers consistently outnumber the temple patrons in each temple session...and half of the temple workers end up just watching ball games on TV in the maintenance area in the basement, something has to change. Cut the number of sessions in half so that it looks like the temples are actually being used for something other than money laundering.

Nelson's doing what he thinks needs to be done. He's not going to tell everyone that the fkn Mormon Church is sinking and people should just head for the lifeboats and find another way of getting to the promised land. Instead, he's doing all the deck-chair rearranging, duct-tape fixes and dike plugging actions that he can to stall for time.

Make the temple president & matron jobs half-time, cut their salaries & benefits...

Knowing how LDS Corp operates, it wouldn't be surprising to have the same person assigned to two or more temples. As long as the temples are within a couple of hours apart, it would save them a few bucks.
