Now maybe I'll get some peace. Hal has haunted me ever since I saw the movie at that theater in Salt Lake City in '67 I think it was. Drove to the big city with my cousin and was blown away by the movie. Hal was still the scariest thing I have ever seen. Perhaps because it is the closest to thing to Oaks. All the way home for an hour we were saying, "What were those black rectangular things supposed to be?"

Hal lives. My phone. My computer. Hal lives.

I saw it with my brother and father in 70mm Cinerama in London.

It was mindblowing.

I too saw it in real Cinerama not too long ago. In the Seattle Cinerama. Thanks to Paul Allen for saving this landmark theater.

The pacing makes much more sense on the huge screen and doesn't seem as slow and ponderous.

My son re-named our "Alexa", to answer to the name "Hal." After a few days, I protested, so he renamed it "Computer", like in Star Trek. That's a much more benign entity.
