US Treasury and other federal agencies will be off also. It's that way whenever a former president dies. During my twelve years working for the feds, I had two days off for two presidents. It includes entire agencies.

Huh. I guess Social Security was considered "essential." I don't remember ever getting a day off because of a former president's death, in 30 years.

On 9/11, we were sent home for the remainder of the day, because they were saying that nobody knew who might be attacked next, so most (if not all) of our offices were closed that day.

And BTW, we got mail today.

They would tell us how important our work was, yet when a president died we'd be off for one day each time.

I began working for the feds in October 2001. Not there for 9/11.

We were sent home the day the power grid failed on the East Coast. That was a good day for me because I was able to take my daughter to the movies instead of going to work.

Regular delivery won't be happening but you'll probably get package delivery. Meaning....you won't get your letters and all the junk mail but some low worker on the totem pole will be running around your Amazon order. If the part-time workers(seasonal hires)don't get your packages out tomorrow, Thursday would be a day from hell for your mailman. Especially this time of year.
Window service will be closed also.
Also might depend on local management. Postal Service isn't know for having the most competent bosses in charge. Some offices might deliver ALL packages and some might only deliver the "guarantee" deliveries.

Some packages I sent on Friday (by priority mail,) are due today at their destination. I hope they get there before tomorrow. Although according to what's being reported, in case they don't, they may still do delivery for those during tomorrow's closing.

There was no real rush other than an Advent Calendar I sent.

No junk mail today, but tomorrow, our mailboxes will be stuffed, to make up for mail not coming today.
My Northwestern sweater came today, by UPS

My priority mail packages shipped to Alabama were right on schedule. My adopted family received them yesterday. :)
