It is what you do to yourself through your bishop. If he is LDS doesn't like being beat.

It’s a weaponization of language designed to abuse your mind.

"Spank the Bishop" seems like an appropriate term from the list.

That's when you forget yourself and think about others.
It can be very detrimental... as well as advantageous.

In other words, give pleasure to others and not to yourself!

lol

Have fun with that!

What the rest of the human race calls "masturbation."

Go to youtube and search for "Self Abuse American Dad." It pretty well covers it.

It is the term for masturbation that I never knew as a kid. It is what they called it in the ensign. So I would search at LDS.org for their stance on masturbation and couldn't find anything as a teen. Now I know it was called self-abuse. Didn't learn that until my mission.

It's what the bishop does behind his big wooden desk when he's grilling 16-year-old girls about their dating actions, sexual thoughts and, well, self-abuse.

haha. ;D missed one: waxing the bishop.

or:

tito'ito'i (tahitian)

faufau (tahitian)

fufu (samoan)

(and as i had witnessed when i lived in polynesia, i can assure you that there are many that are quite adept at this sport, there. i had a bishop here, too, who is now in prison, for doing the above and regularly molesting his clients in his private chiropractitioner clinic. as per his last name, it can also be called 'doing the dew' haha.)

It says a lot about those religions that call making yourself feel wonderful "abuse."

Have a Graham Cracker and consider who invented them.

"The emphasis on milling and baking at home was part of his vision of America in which women remained at home and nursed their families into health and maintained them there, as his wife had done for him.[2] Graham believed that adhering to such diet would prevent people from having impure thoughts and in turn would stop masturbation (thought by Graham to be a catalyst for blindness and early death[5]:16) His piece On Self-Pollution, published in 1834, contributed to the masturbation scare in antebellum America. He believed youthful masturbation was dangerous to children's health because of the immaturity of their reproductive organs.[5]:15, 72 "

Should I hand out Graham Crackers to the missionaries? Maybe wards should buy them in bulk.

"Self abuse" was a common term for masturbation back in the
1800s when many doctors preached that it caused insanity and a
whole host of physical maladies. The fact that Mormon leaders
still use that expression shows that they are still stuck in the
1800s mentally. Here's an 1835 article from the "New England
Journal of Medicine:"

https://www.nejm.org/doi/pdf/10.1056/NEJM183503250120703

Another term was "the solitary vice." Turn-of-the-century books
on life and sex (wait until marriage, of course) always had a
chapter on "The Solitary Vice" with case histories of young men
whose lives were ruined--RUINED! by wanking. Only young men
were mentioned, of course, since young women never engage in
similar behavior.

Graham crackers were originally developed to discourage
masturbation. It was believed that spicy foods inflamed the
genitals and thus diverted one's attention there. Graham
crackers were invented to be a pleasant but bland snack that
would not lead to "beating the baguette." Here's a line from
the chapter on "self-abuse" in a book by John Harvey Kellogg,
(yes, the inventor of corn flakes):

"The use of stimulants of any kind is a fruitful cause of the
vice. Tea and coffee have led thousands to perdition in this
way. The influence of tobacco is so strongly shown in this
direction that it is doubtful if there can be found a boy who
has attained the age of puberty and has acquired the habit of
using tobacco, who is not also addicted to this vile practice.
Candies, spices, cinnamon, cloves, peppermint, and all strong
essences, powerfully excite the genital organs and lead to the
same result."
--John Harvey Kellogg, "Plain Facts for Young and Old" (1881)

I had no idea. Well my Mom still uses the term "gender dysphoria" when refering to trans people. That is the mental disorder term back before it was removed from DSRM. So her mind is still in the 80s. Being stuck in the 1800s feels even worse.

If you are Mormon, apparently it is slang for masturbation.

For the Rest of the World and as defined in the BIBLE by those who actually READ and KNOW the bible it has the same definition as it does for those who are in the field of Mental Health.

It's is literally self abuse, or the abuse of one's self. Things like cutting, or breaking your bones, or other types of things that actually hurt you. It is similar to other forms of abuse, except that you are doing it to yourself rather than having anyone else do it to you.

I find it infuriating the idiot religious types that try to change the REAL meaning into something they made up several decades ago.

It is them trying to change the meaning of the Bible rather than trying to live it like they claim they do.

If you aren't Christian, probably no big deal. For Christians like me, it is infuriating. It is not something I let idiots teach my boys if I can help it.
