Tremor in Tennessee - anyone feel it (Eric K)?

The news reported two minor earthquakes - one very near Erick K.

I didn't notice anything in Alabama but apparently some Atlanta and in Alabama felt it.


Eric has had his share of weather event the past year. I hope there was no damage.


With floods, fires, and weather extremes in the news all the time now, why not add a few earthquakes!

An earthquake in Tennessee would be an unexpected shock.

Thankfully, if it was small, there shouldn't be noticeable aftershocks.

Yes it woke me up around 4:20. I have a 2 story house and could feel it swaying. At first I thought it was a storm. The epicenter was only 30 miles away. The house is brick. When it warms up this morning will go outside to see if there are any cracks. It was quite strong.

One report had the magnitude at 4.4. That is strong for the east coast.

4.4! That's up in the scary range.

Hope no one suffered damage or trauma. I would think the pictures on the walls would be tipped and there could be cracks in the plaster. Good luck all.

Watch for damage where the fireplace connects to the house.

When I was in a big Los Angeles earthquake decades ago, lots of our houses had the fireplace separate from the house. Also block wall fences fell over.


Damage to gas lines caused a lot of problems.

Waking up to the house swaying is scary enough.

Hope there are no cracks or damage done to the foundation there.

Local news reported it being felt as far south as Birmingham.
