You know friends, we put a lot of needed pressure on Mormonism. From making fun of the quirky beliefs, unyielding requirement of faith in believing the 'Brethren', to showing the real damage that it has done to generations of families in the US and the world. But, I somehow think that the people who end up becoming, or being born into Jehovah's Witness, have been dealt a hand off the bottom of the deck. And yes, I know, there are people who believe that the LDS Church, Scientology, Seventh-Day Adventists, Quakers, Shaker's, JW's, and Freemasonry are all owned by the same 'company'. Whatever. The damage is the same. Who you gonna call?

In Remini's new season of Scientology: The Aftermath (Season 3), she begins by gathering a group of former disfellowshipped (DF's) Witnesses for a forum discussion. It was heart-breaking to listen to the stories of these former members who truly believed in their faith. Who believed in the message of their leaders while evil was allowed to grow and fester around them.

I remember feeling like an outcast in my HS years as one of the only Mormons who attended. I knew of several fellow students who were Witnesses who got the hell beat out of them for not standing for the Pledge of Allegiance in homeroom AM; for not answering teachers questions, for not talking to us 'regular' kids in the cafeteria. I got made fun of, called names, and got chosen last to be on a team but, I never got beat up or spit on. BTW, children are cruel and it doesn't take having a different religious view to have that demonstrated over the years.

Those cruel school kids grow up to be adults.

And that makes it easier to even the scoreboard. Teach their kids that what their parents believe is questionable, at best. Teach their grand-kids that there is a conspiracy in the world. It's a conspiracy to rid the world of liars. Just use the internet, non-violent, and available all of the hours mom and dad are sleeping. Or better yet, not paying a bit of attention to junior because they are so busy doing church work, work work, and watching porn and eating Cheetos.
