Over the years I've received gifts from places I've done business with, but they have always been large companies or at least came with the company logo. Usually a calendar, box of goodies etc.

Recently I unexpectedly received a gift (food) from a used book Hstore I frequent that is owned by a husband and wife vs a company or organization. The gift had no company logo. I'm not sure if the gift is from the store or the family that owns it. I'm not quite sure if I need or even should send them a gift.

I've been doing business with them for two years. Last year I did not receive a gift.

Any thoughts?

Take them a plate of cookies, baked goods and/or home made candies that the owners and employees can all enjoy.

Don't feel obligated, do it to be nice.

Keep it, and the next time you see the owners, say thank you. There is no need to give them a gift in return.
