I told him to stop trying to prove it wrong until he has his wife up to speed on what he is doing and learning.

A lot of mormons I know here in Utah get social benefit from being mormon. It doesn't matter if it's true, the results of disengaging would be financially catastrophic to those tied into the power structures and hierarchy here. They would be ostracized.

I am sure that my mission president, a descendant of Brigham Young, knew that MORmONISM was technically a steaming heap of Bull $hit, but it was the steaming heap of Bull $Hit in the world of Bull $hit that his family had an insider's advantage on controling and reaping benefits from, so that is what he rolled with. When a person is an ambitious descendant of Brigham Young, then they concentrate on being a big wheel at LD$ inc.
His exclusive obsession was in self promotion for the sake of climbing higher in the governing circles of MORmONISM. His EPIC lack of genuine and earnest concern for any thing else, like doing real good, was glaring, but good member MORmONS are NOT entitled OR typically capable of acknowledging such a thing.

Believing Mormons often have a "lack of genuine and earnest
concern for anything else, like doing real good." In Mormonism
the SUPREME good is Mormonism. Anything else can be sacrificed
