While searching for information on Brigham Young I came across what looked like a recent death of what could be a relation. My own grandmother was a great granddaughter of Young. The name Card stuck out because my great grandmother's mother's maiden name was Card.

I logged into lds.org and found out she was this guy's daughter.

My great grandmother Zina Young Brown (born Card) was his sister. And my great grandmother only had 2 full brothers though this from the above site shows there were more half siblings. I'm sure you all know how that happens in Mormonism Historically.

And there is also this. I don't know why it bothers me so much that they put my grandmother's "Preferred" marriage as the one she got a divorce from but it does. It isn't like her second marriage was really good but she got a temple divorce and another temple sealing yet the infamous polygamist gets preference in the Mormon recording.

3rd cousin?

The child of your GG grand mother (your grandparent) and the child of her brother would be first cousins.

The child of your grand parent would be 1st cousins, once removed. Your parent would be twice removed. You would be 1st cousins, three times removed.

If the great grandparents (G/GPs) were sibs, then their kids (Zola and your *grandparent*) would be 1st cousins. [Common great-great grandparents (GG/GPs)]

Then she and your *parent* would be 1st cousins, once removed.

Therefore, you and Zola would be 1C-2R.

Zola was my grandmother.

I can't speak for the how many times removed terminology (obviously, the English language needs some better terms for cousins, IMO).

But, I just wanna say, in your x-cousin y-removed's obit, the Chattanoogan newspaper used the term:
"The-Church-of-Jesus-Christ-of-Latter-Day-Saints"
four times in five paragraphs.

Orson Scott Card is apparently the grandson of Orson Rega Card.

I know Orson and I are related, just not how we are.
