Since going on my mission, I have been determined to never re-miss.

Mx. That's funny!

I never bore my testimony. Several times I was "called" to the stand, to represent my age group, or as part of various callings, and I would stay seated, and shake my head. All the goading and humiliation in the world, would not make me lie.

Remiss? Where did this weird word come from?

I have two suggestions to replace this strange word, which are, maybe even stranger, but I rather like the sound of them and think the Mormongang should take a vote. They are:

Lackadaisical (it has a nice ring, dontchthink?)

or/and

Slipshod (I like how it just spits out when you say it that you definitely have screwed up)

Let's give slipshod a try....."Have you, you Mormonmember you, ever been "shipshod" in bear..(no this word must go, too) "belting-out" your testimony?

It's sad to admit, but when I was an active Mormon I felt uncomfortable with long periods of silence in tesimony meeting so I would get up and bear my testimony. In addition, I was always aware of how recently I had borne my testimony, so if I hadn't done it last month I was more inclined to do it in the current month. In essence, I believe I was in to pleasing others and concerned about what other people may think of me if I didn't bear my testimony.

It took a few years after my excommunication to realize that this behavior was very sick. I suspect many "borne" testimonies suffer from the same affliction.
