This obituary is from last week, I knew of this guy barely from my days working at ZCMI 1985 to 1994 and not even sure how I knew him. He didn't work there.

In this obituary, they write: "He had a complex relationship with the LDS Church, participating and serving while his daughters were growing up, but limiting his involvement in later years."

I so wanted them to explain more but I guess they figured that was enough.

Seems like a mormon-politically-correct way of saying, "he figured out it was a crock and left."

This guy?

Sounds like a nice and interesting man despite being raised in the cult.

Sounds like his family was trying to find a way of saying he was a Mormon, but not a TMB.

I shopped at ZCMI (then).
I wonder if we crossed paths.

Man raised Mormon
Man leaves Mormons

So he wasn't a Mens Rea Mormon when he died.

Hmmm.

One possible scenario...Maybe his absence from church later in life led to rumors that he was excommunicated, and this was the family's way of correcting that gossip.

Let this be a cautionary tale--write your own obituary, right now! Tell your children in your Will to use it, and leave the $250-400 to pay for it! If you want one, that is.

If the COJCOLDS church is mentioned in my obit, I will rise up and haunt everyone!

Would I mention that I was a Girl Scout, a member of the FFSM, a former Republican, a member of CSF, ASF Exchange Students, Red Cross WSI, all of which enhanced my life far more than the stupic cult did. As an adult, my various business affiliations were much more important than the Mormon cult. If I listed all the organizations I volunteered with and contributed to, the obituary would be too long. No one is going to mention my "temple marriage", either, under the threat of horrible spectre-scaring. That lasted only a few months.

Besides, at however-much money per line my obituary is going to cost, It would be robbery to have an entire two lines devoted to just printing that stupid name!

"Even The Church of
Jesus Christ of Lat-
ter Day Saints.

That's three lines, right? (If offices were open, I would find out the exact cost.) No, I'm going to put the names of all my children in there, and what I love about life, instead.

I guess someone had to acknowledge his Mormonism.....

But his funeral is not in a M chapel.
There is no mention of a mission.
And it doesn't say he married in the temple.

I'm wondering if I should mention my exmormon group in my obituary.....Our local meet up group has been an important part of my life.....the last 8 years.

Interesting Obit....sounds like a great guy.
