"The Second Mailman" and you can read and "discern" it here.

I really enjoyed that read. And a few others while I was there. A good place to linger while scoffing my snack. It goes without saying but I'll do so again anyway: Don - you're a great writer. Holden Caulfield came to mind in this new story and others.

And he's an icon of American Lit now, as stated in Wiki at least, and why not. He's one of those characters you yearn to be real. Maybe he is...

I think Holden was a real person.

Great story Don.
I can't believe he did that.
But I can believe the story!

"Synopsis: A young man struggles to find himself in a small Oregon town."

I do too sometimes.
Depends on what town.

I'm all about town.

Oh-find himself, lol, I thought it said loses himself in an Oregon town. Either way...

A friend's mailman came twice the other day. They checked their mail - just after he came - and about an hour later he came again, and put something in.

I guess the first time it was a "takeout". I've seen trash trucks do the same thing. I'm sure this summer more than a few people will have their yard cut twice in the same day and pay twice.
