Daylight Savings Time Change March 10th, you won’t want to miss this lecture.

We will be meeting on Sunday, March 10, at 2 PM for our monthly get-together. Our presenter will be Dr. D. Michael Quinn, an acclaimed Historian who taught at BYU before being asked to leave for including too much truth in his lectures. Probably best known for being one of the "September Six," (6 scholars/academics excommunicated in Sept 1993) Dr. Quinn is an affiliated scholar at the University of Southern California's Center for Feminist Research. His accolades include Best Book awards from the American Historical Association and the Mormon History Association. Some of the research that got him into trouble with LDS authorities was his work on Post-Manifesto polygamy and stories from the "baseball baptism" era. Dr. Quinn lives in So. California but has agreed to visit us for a free-wheeling discussion of whatever you want to ask. Because of the large number of attendees expected we will be meeting at the Red Lion Inn, 850 S Bluff St. George Utah, (directly north of the Room at the Square where we have been meeting). Tell your friends and come early to assure getting a seat.

Years ago I attended one of Dr Quinn's lecture as one of our university Convocations. Lecture was during my lunch hour, was so captivating that was late getting back to work. Really looking to Dr. Quinns lecture.

I wish I could be with you, because Quinn is an impressively thorough historian and convincing, readable writer.

Unfortunately, it's a bit far ;-)

Right on! Reasearch in his book notes are as fun to read as his books.

Wish you were not so far away.

I hope you're still around having these great lectures when I get to retire in two more years (and counting!) Quinn's one of the great historians. No wonder he was excommunicated from TSCC.

Have been to St George only twice thus far, and yet it feels like home to me. Some of my pioneer ancestors are buried nearby, so I wonder if there's a connection somehow in the DNA that runs through my veins?

I could say the same for my English and European ancestors, but have not had the opportunity to travel there yet. Maybe someday. When I learned from 23 and Me I'm now 39.4% Swiss, I chuckled. Does that explain my infatuation with Switzerland for years and years? I wanted to move there and live as a graduate student. One of my children was admitted into ETH in Zurich, but decided to go elsewhere, Life is strange.

It doesn't take a psychic to predict that the crowd @ the Red Lion will be filled to overflowing on March 10th.

Carry on.

Good bunch of Ex/Postmo's in St. George area, you will like them if you make the move. Group is really growing.

And wear a white carnation over your right ear, so I'll know who you are!!!

j/k

But I wouldn't be kidding if I could have made it! There are going to be some very interesting early supper table groups, with really good folk making wonderfully idle exmormon chatter. I'm getting goosebumps!!!!
