From a cultural standpoint, I can see the commonality here.
The culture of the United States (as a unified nation and national identity) has been based, in large part, upon this very attribute.
We (as a nation) "try things out"--this is part of what "being American" means.
As we go through a period of "experimentation," we learn what is excellent or good, and what is flawed or distinctly NOT good....and over what is often a larger period of time (usually counted in terms of generations), we mostly keep the good and disappear the not-so-good.
It is possible that in the future, with hindsight, Mormonism will be included in the "flawed, or not so good" category.
From what I, as a nevermo, have been able to observe over the last fifteen years, this is exactly what is, in actuality, happening.

So many are looking for the ONE true thing to make their lives worthwhile. The ONE secret that gives life meaning. The ONE perfect exercise that makes you beautiful and healthy and you actually love to do it. The ONE little known factor that will make them rich. (That secret happens to be writing a self help book and telling everyone else what to do as you rake it in.)
And of course the cherry on the cake-- the ONE true church that will make you superior to all others and get you past Joseph's velvet rope.
Problem is what makes something rich is not ONE but is a conglomeration that constantly sheds and adds-- thereby staving off the boredom of the same old same old. More is more. Our ability to feel is what gives meaning, not any one book, or one saying, or one action. Life can be a banquet or a fad diet.
So being satisfied with the ONE is risky as it may be rather lazy and unimaginative and leave one in a rut. The grand exception to all of this is the ONE true German Chocolate Cake. Not like Mormonism at all.

Yes! And they do, I read somewhere that self-help books and seminars make billions of dollars of profits every year.
And yes, the one true church, I believe the count of religions worldwide is 10,000 different ones right now? All of them think they’re the true one, I’m sure.

I don’t agree. Maybe it’s just your impression that those involved in one if those topics can’t avoid talking about them but I don’t find that to be the case.

Yes. I’ve noticed that, is it that these topics are so important that they simply MUST share, or they need to validate their self-identity?

However, there are those who really just want others to be healthier, richer, whatever. They're the hardest ones to deal with.

Yes I had forgotten that—-the blazing urge to help everyone share in the great “something” they have found. Fervor to help others...ugh...afraid you’re right, older E!!!
I was just watching a sitcom, and a group of people at a party were talking, and someone asked, "Where's Nick? He was so much fun to talk to. Why isn't he here?"

Yes, it’s grist for the sitcom but also true, when your friends radically deviate from your own eating choices it becomes difficult to get together with them.
It would be nice if most all socializing didn’t require or center around food!!!

"Vegans"?
Involved? Evolved?
Any of what things? How related is LDS To it's 'constituents'?
One quick thing about veganism: One can do what they want It isn't cannibalism That's mormonism It chews you up Then spits you out It actually swallows Without any feasting
It doesn't care about you But DEMANDS you follow it And pick up its SHIfT!
Veganism is about individual WHOLE (some ness)
Mormonslism, about Profits! Profile. Pasttimes. Pat-re-money. Phony falsehoods and philandering. Did I say phalsehoods and preSTooges? Free-form fakeness.
