The question you’ve all been wondering has finally been answered.

Do people have sex in Heaven? Absolutely not!

At least that’s the response from Greg Morse, a staff writer for the website Desiring God, who previously blasted the feminist “insanity” in Captain Marvel and said that “effeminate” men won’t get into Heaven at all.

Morse says he was recently talking to an “avid admirer of women’s company” who mentioned that the supposed Islamic belief in 72 virgins sounded very appealing. Which is totally the sort of conversation normal people have around a Christian writer… and is very believable since people who have lots of sex always talk about how much fun virgins are.

Anyway, Morse said there’s no sex in Heaven — much to the man’s surprise — because God has something way, way better in store for everyone.

I have need to remind myself: All that is sweet in human marriage to my coheir on this earth will not be ultimately lost but transformed. The new depth of intimacy I will have with my Lord — and every other saint, including my spouse — will look back on the caterpillar of earthly joys with fondness but not longing. And this makes marriage, and the intoxication of sexual intimacy, all the sweeter now.

We enjoy our candy now, and as we do, we grow in our trust in the Father who knows how to give good — the best gifts — to his children. Our heaven does not offer sexual pleasure, but it offers that which makes sexual pleasure obsolete.

Maybe it’s like that scene in Cocoon. “If this is foreplay, I'm a dead man.”

In fact Christian belief on what comes next is highly nonspecific (contrast with Mormon belief). So Morse is going well beyond Christian belief. Perhaps he's expressing his own belief. And dressing it up as having some official status.

Matthew 22:30 states, "or in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven."

You are quite mistaken to think this man is going "well beyond Christian belief".

1. marriage not sex is the subject of the passage

2. "like the angels in heaven" is pretty nonspecific

3. compare to religions with highly specific beliefs on what comes next, e.g. Mormonism

4. the passage is taken out of context (it's actually a trick question; you omit the question and cite only part of the answer).

5. restore the context, and it's even less specific: the point is NOT to assume (human framed) things

6. now compare Morse's certainty with the actual limits of the text (or any others you'd care to cite), and you come to

7. Morse is going well beyond Christian belief. Perhaps he's expressing his own belief. And dressing it up as having some official status.

The standard Christian belief is that there is no sex in heaven...hence the context of that verse. The context is marriage and procreation. Jesus answers that they will be like the angels (angels are created beings who do not reproduce).

Nope, the context is a trick question. His answer (and indeed the point) was you can't apply earthly things to heavenly existence.

What you have in parens is an interpretation that emphasizes a point not made by Jesus in the text. And misses the point that is in the text.

Christian texts and traditions have always been vague on this and most specifics of what comes after.

"My Father's House" and "many mansions" and "Heaven" etc. are given. Specifics are not.

Sorry if that bothers you. Tell you what, if it makes you feel any better, that vagueness is equally compatible with the possibility of no sex in heaven. It just doesn't say.

Maybe we can avoid getting hung up on sex (I know, right?)

Almost any specific characterization of what comes next goes outside Christian belief.

Are there sweets in Heaven?

Hiking trails?

Candles?

You won't find answers in Christian texts or traditions. No assurance they are in Heaven. Nor that they aren't.

However, a panel of Arabic language scholars has recently ascertained that the old translation of "virgins" was a serious mistake in the Koran.

They found that the Arabic word in that context actually means "raisins".

How does he know? Did he pay heaven a visit?

Since Ian Stevenson has disproven Christian eschatology, this does not concern me in the slightest.

It's the same as arguing if Star Trek Discovery is actually Star Trek or not.

I spit at my computer when I read this. Funniest thing I've read in a while. I love it when a writer has this kind of wit.

Of course, we mormons know this guy is all wrong. Making billions of spirit babies from billions of wives for your planet is the mormon way. The CK is nothing but a sex fest for men and an eternal spirit baby pregnancy hell for women. Horney Joe wrote it up this way and had the CK on earth before he died.

Sex IS heaven. Both the xtians and the mormons have it wrong.
