to tour a bunch of beautiful islands in the South Pacific. I'll be finishing up with a beautiful stop-over in Tahiti, where I'll spend a few minutes uttering vapid platitudes to total strangers, so that I can classify the whole trip as a business trip... and I'll be traveling with a couple of women who are much younger than me. They'll be "assisting" me in my "business".

If anyone wants to come along and help out with the luggage and coordinating reservations and stuff, let me know....


Oh...crap! I just remembered. I'm not a President and Prophet (sustained as such), presiding over a large religious organization headquartered in Salt Lake City. I can't just command an organization to put a private jet at my disposal and then go off on a fun trip to the beautiful South Pacific with a couple of ladies! What was I thinking?

Or maybe she'll be busy doing Deseret Books or Deseret Management Corporation "business" in Hawaii...or Paris...or....

I have to hand it to him, he's getting a lot of mileage (literally) out this Prophet gig.

That's why I was so upset when she went off with Rusty and Wendy and didn't even bother to tell me. No call. No text message. Not even a little note on the refrigerator. I thought we had something special, but it looks like she was just using me to get extra lime juice in her alcohol-free margaritas along with some other things.

Perhaps the "other things" just weren't that good. A woman's got needs, after all. . .

She used to love it when I did the old Jimmy Durante "crazy knees" routine. But it's been years since the last time I did it. Then out of the blue a couple weeks ago she asks me to do it again. Well, I was out of practice and it didn't go well. I started telling her that I was a bit rusty....

Then she got a gleam in her eye and said "speaking of Rusty" and went off to make a phone call. Next thing I know I'm reading in the paper that she's on a private jet with...well...Rusty...and Wendy of course.

I'm thinking of writing a "tell-all" book if she doesn't start treating me with respect.

I've got a 30-year-old Schwinn beach cruiser with coaster brakes and a shiny squeeze horn (it's brass). It used to be enough, but people are so much more demanding these days.
