So now that we are not mormones (mamones... heh heh), have you been able to put together a new set of "All The Answers"?

Are you trying?

Have you even tried?

Do you think about it?

Have you decided it doesn't matter?

Are you Ziller?

Are you on a road to somewhere? To who-knows-where?

Are you in a big field, naked and it's snowing?

Are you at the zoo? And all the cage doors just opened?

Are you at a craft brewery, borrowing a cup of beer?

Are you afraid... Of living? Of dying? Of never being understood?

C'mon, log on anonymously, like I just did, and spill yer guts. You'll learn something.

I didn't sign on anonymously? Rats!

They just screwed up when they decided how to define joy. Of course, what haven't they screwed up?

So I start a thread to make fun of mormonism and you jump in to make it all about you?

I don't believe you have much in the way of usefulness to RfM and I wish the powers that be would use their powers to be.

Speak for yourself. What is the point of the original post anyway? I could say more about that, but it would be uncharitable of me. Nude in a snowfield?!

I consider your statements to be ill thought out, but I'm not running off to admin to have them removed because I disagree with them.

What is your point here? That Exmos can fall into the trap of thinking they have all the answers? Or post-Mormon morality?

This would be a genuinely understandable situation for you and there's no reason to expect you to understand: I'm silly.

It happens in even the best of families.

I beg no pardon.

Some are ponderous souls, like elephants moving through a morass. Asking them to understand humor, or nuance, or even intelligent prose is futile.

For all they want is somehow to extricate themselves from the mud.

Legion is certainly like a herd of elephants.

Legion speaking about itself again, when it can't spot a joke unless it's flagged up ten minutes beforehand.

> or even intelligent prose

Not a problem with Legion, unless it wants to quote a third party.

In fact, Legion is always complaining about how too many clauses make its brains hurt, or how it does like syntax to vary.

You do have a way with words, Jordan. Your writing style is every bit as striking as your analytical skills!

If pressed to think of how to summarize both your rationality and your linguistic facility, I would say "Jordan is the perfect LogicalCanuckExmo!"

Sadly LogicalCanuckExmo is no longer with us. He must have offended the right-wing activist in the sky, perhaps by touching the Ark of the Conservative Covenant; for while HWint recovered from his stroke, LCE not only succumbed but had every trace of his existence erased. Oh cruel fate!

There now remains only one Pocket Pinocchio. I just hope that HWint's praise suffices to preserve your fragile emotional balance. We don't want him having any more strokes!

Telling.

Most people leaving Mormonism have the opposite experience with answers.

I don't think you are much interested in the purpose of this forum.

I know lots of ex-mos who think they're so clever and enlightened for leaving the church, then (a) assume that if LDS teaches X than it implies that non-X is valid; and/or (b) fall into fundamentally the same thought patterns as they had in Mormonism.

(a)

LDS leans right-wing republican, therefore non-right wing and non-republican is correct in all things.

LDS says alcohol and marijuana are bad, therefore alcohol and marijuana are good.

(b)

I know more than a few ex-mos who would emphatically reject a healing prayer from a Melchizedek priesthood holder, but have no problem shelling out $80 for a session with a Reiki healer.

I know more than a few ex-mos who reject Christian millenialism and waiting for Jesus to come back and usher in an era of peace and universal brotherhood, but became Marxists and are now eagerly waiting for the working class to organize, destroy capitalism and nationalism to usher in an era of peace and universal brotherhood.

It's my greatest joy, Elder Berry, challenging something Jordan says and guessing whether he will appear to offer refutation or HWint will do the honor!

I drew Jordan this time and you got HWint, freshly recovered from his week-long bout of I'm-not-Jordan punctuation problems and sentence fragments. Here HWint is with normal capitalization, something approaching normal punctuation, tedious sentences, and right-wing political nonsense. By Jove he even offered a Jordanian reference to "Marxism!"

"I know more than a few ex-mos who . . . became Marxists and are now eagerly waiting for the working class to organize, destroy capitalism and nationalism to usher in an era of peace and universal brotherhood."

Congratulations, HWint, on both your miraculous return from the hospital and this particular passage. Jordan himself couldn't have written anything more puerile.

I figured it might bring out some truth what I replied. What I didn't expect was the other one.

I wonder how an obvious conservative politico could know so many Marxist Exmos?

I feel this whole board is painted Marxist and we are the fish in the barrel.

A man with his egotistical outlook needs a foil or an audience. We political dissidents are his foil; his alter egos are his audience.

It's simple, really.

All Google proves is that you can use a search engine. And since they started introducing censorship on it, it has become increasingly hard to find a wide range of material on there.

Got it: Google no good; must visit the library... Or would you be willing to supply the requested information?

I understand that with SEO tools, one side of an issue, such as los mormones, can get their websites to come up ahead of others.

But if one has this in mind, one goes on to check pages two, three, etc., and sufficient information can be found to make what most would consider to be a balanced intake of information, and possibly even arrive at what could pass for Truth.

Plus it saves gas & wear & tear on my tricycle.

>"And since they started introducing censorship on it, it has become increasingly hard to find a wide range of material on there."

I'm curious... I have no doubt that Google does limit what is or is not listed on their site. They are a very large, very popular company and having certain things pop up in a search without some type of limiting factor could be, problematic.

What I'm curious about is that you seem to find it "increasingly hard to find a wide range of material" on certain topics via google. While I could be opening a can of worms, what topics are you finding difficult googling and do you have anything to backup your claim that Google is the culprit in limiting your access to that information?

And here they are:

(1) We don't know much about it.

(2) The details will be made known in the next life.

(3) It's a test of faith. If God explained everything to us in exact detail, we wouldn't need faith. God wants us to have faith.

(4) It's not important or relevant for your salvation to know such things, so don't dwell on the mysteries.

(5) You need to pray about it and, if it's God's will AND IF YOU ARE WORTHY, the Holy Ghost will make the answer known to you.

(6) It's a couplet more than anything else.

(7) It's a fleck of history and flecks are not important.

(8) It's not accepted TODAY as official doctrine, so f**k it!

C'mon! You have to admit that those answers cover everything.

There is literally no question that you can have that can not be answered using one of the above answers.

The Church claims to have all the answers. They never claimed to have SATISFACTORY answers. If you are wickedly demanding satisfactory answers, you are the problem.

So.... you know what to do now, right? Go back to Church and learn how to be satisfied with the answers that are given.

If I were to suggest that I may have a few answers most would scoff with skepticism. I probably would too. If I were some charismatic cult leader who claimed to impart sacred knowledge I could possibly find a whole slew of people (not in this forum) to hang on my every word. Some of what I would say may be deemed not acceptable commentary for this site and be removed so, why bother. So from your list -

> Are you trying?

> Have you even tried?

> Do you think about it?

> Have you decided it doesn't matter?

you may want to add; "Have you decided that no one really listens much to what you say anyway?" to your list.

singing the theme from Mahogany and now it's been stuck in my head for a whole day.

Theme From Mahogany (Do You Know Where You’re Going To)
Diana Ross

Do You Know
Where you're going to?
Do you like the things?
That life is showing you
Where are you going to?
Do you know?
Do you get?
What you're hoping for?
When you look behind you
There's no open doors
What are you hoping for?
Do you know?
