WAY O/T (as are so many things I post ) Mavis Staples....

.....has released a new CD, LIVE IN LONDON. It's been out since February this year and somehow I missed it.

She's got a great band backing her and she still sounds great at age 80.

Likely to be among my greatest regrets:

Mavis Staples played at the Apollo Theatre this year. We planned to go. Something important prevented us, which turned out not to be that important after all. So we missed Mavis Staples, live at the Apollo.


Lesson learned: sometimes important things aren't really as important as they seem.

When I lived in Las Vegas, she came to town to play at the House of Blues, the best venue in a town full of decent venues.

I forget why I couldn't go but it may have been for a family reunion in Utah and I had missed the one before.

Still hoping to see her someday.
