Today, animals still present a hazard to humans, and this article but which of them kill the biggest number of humans?
HWint is correct that mosquitoes kill the largest number of humans each year - up to 750,000 of us.
The second most lethal animal against humans is...
Humans:
"Approximately 475,000 people die every year at the hand of fellow man. In a world filled with conflict, war, murders, and acts of terrorism, this is unfortunately not that surprising. Deaths among humans are intentional and pre-calculated making them beyond tragic."
Humans also kill:
"More than 150 billion animal are killed each year for human consumption, and over 100 million animals are killed for laboratory purposes in the United States. These numbers do not reflect animal deaths from shelters, zoos or blood sports."
So, you see, Humans are the most lethal animal on the earth and are also destroying the Earth's habitat for almost all life...in the end the bacteria and bugs may be the only survivors.
Think in terms of ecosystems and not just species within them. Humans are impacting entire ecosystems. For example, rainforests and just about anywhere large animals once thrived are getting smaller as humans expand. The ocean is not big enough for all our waste. We are peeing in our cereal so to speak. Our predators are not impacting other ecosystems like we are.
My wife say you're adorable, though neither Saucie nor I need to worry about her hitting on you because she is respectful of marriage vows - both her own and those of others - or so she says, anyway.

If you're on board with vows of union, then it sounds like a 4-way tie. Tell counsel 'thank you!" from me and Saucie.
