I thought about changing my name in Utah, but it's been a long time. I am changing my name in Texas. Online with google, you mostly get Ads for companies that help you.

I don't know how, but my husband's ex does. She's had her children's last names changed every time she's been divorced, and she's had at least five last names herself.

My MIL had her name completely changed when she was about 60 because she didn't feel her birth name suited her. When we mailed out our wedding invitations, my husband's dad, who hadn't seen or spoken to my husband's mom in decades, thought we'd made a mistake. He called us and asked, "Who the hell is Parker?"

Hey, sorry about your identity crisis, but will you still be the old lovable MeMikeUNot?

Certainly will remain memikeyounot. (You'll notice that it's you and not U I don't use caps. I "borrowed" it from a guy who was a friend of a friend and he was "mealexyounot."

What I'm thinking about doing (and there sure seems to be lots of paperwork involved) is so that my name is just "Michael....." with out a first name that my mom saddled me with at birth. And there's a whole long story.

I may go through with it--or may not

I'd post under my usual name, except for that voice which tells me gnot to!

but since my kids have this last name (well, at least my son now), I'll leave it. I should have known when I started dating my husband NOT TO since I've never liked his last name (and for other reasons).

If I were my ex, I'd change my first name, but it kind of fits, which is crazy.
