Like The Silent, Greatest, Baby Boomer, X-cetera Mormons have their generations of "the endowed." Help me out.

The Basin Washed Generation??? (No idea, The Preacher Generation?, The Five Points Generation?)

The Bloody Oaths Generation (I missed this generation by a month)

The Loins Anointed Generation

The Sealed Shield Generation

Generations of Mormons derives from their initiation. I'm from the Loins Anointed Generation. I was touched.

The men cutting women with knives on the knee cap (1840's)
** the bloody scars generation**

The pouring of olive oil and steamy baths (1850s).
** the greasy generation **

the post manifesto polygs sealing each other in carriages at night (1900s)
** the concubine generation **

"the concubine generation"

I really like this one. It is also a concurrent generation if you are a Mormon Polygamist.

I'm not usually a fan of this whole "Generation Whatever" thing, but this does make sense in an LDS context.

In recent times you can see -

* The Open Priesthood/Correlation Generation - 1978-1990s. Telecommunications open up, services everywhere conform to a common standard.

* Temple building generation - between late X & Millenials, where Hinckley went on a temple building spree and lots of members suddenly found themselves close to one.

* The Non-Mormon Generation - the ones coming through just now.

I don't this "Generation Whatever" has any fans. It is just a way to look at a big group similarly aged people. Sheesh.

I believe one could derive The Generations of Mormons from their initiation like I posted. But thank you for not making this political.

The Mormon Church changes so much with their policies and such that only their temple seems to me to be something generational.

Ironically, they can't talk about it so it probably has zero impact on the generations of Mormons. How they do things doesn't seem to hold much sway. The older Mormons will complain that it wasn't like it was in their day but they dare not question their ancient prophet, just their ancient prophets.

They obviously call them initiatory for a reason.

So, Elder Berry, you didn't go through until after 1990?

The last time I went through was right after they changed the endowment in 1990. My "husband" wanted me to see the new movie. He thought I'd be happy with the changes they had made. (Is that when they did away with the 5 points of fellowship?) But, alas, they pulled me aside to do sealings to another man. That was mind blowing. I never went back.

January 1991. If I had gone on my mission at 19 instead of 20 I would have had the blood oaths. My BIL is a week younger than I am and had them.
