Nope, even as a TBM I had a hard time with the concept of Satan.

It never made sense that God lets a being run around actively trying to ruin his plans. If God is truly all powerful, then why does he allow this. (Disclaimer, I don't believe in God either).

sounds like a pretty good description of ego, a perspective that views everyone and everything through a self-centered lens, that wants to preserve itself, or self-image, above all else.

Why does "God" or Reality 'permit' this? Maybe because this perspective is its own punishment, a choice to live in a self-bounded dream of grift where everyone suffers and dies...a self-created hell that ego takes to be the only possibility there is (everything else is fake news) and kills everyone that tries to wake it up.

God is supposedly perfect. He would have no need of punishing himself or ego. God, Satan, everything that goes with that doesn't make sense.

What do you mean when you use the term "satan?" What is it exactly?

I am of the opinion that we atheists start these debates on the wrong place. We need definition and understanding before we can determine what we will accept as true, and reject.

Having read the bible (KJ and NIV) I am convinced the being articulated therein can not possibly exist; and belief in it is unjustified. However, there might be some who understand Satan to be something different (the "cruelty within the natural order" for example.. kind of a "Pansatanism") than the biblical context and I would be very interested in hearing he rational for believing in such.

I have heard various people say they believe in "evil" which is demonstrated by people everyday somewhere in the world. I've heard others believe in some evil that tries to come upon this Earth but I think that it's just people trying to put their thoughts in some kind of conceptual way of understanding the chaos that occurs.

I believe there are things like selfishness, revenge, hatred, inconsideration, ignorance, cruelty, indoctrination.

I believe that the things people do that one would consider evidence of evil are really caused by either a dreadful upbringing, or faulty brain structure/wiring.
